First fish on the new fly rod

went fishing on Monday, with my grandparents, for walleye, i got a few bites here and there. caught one walleye (lost it on shore, came off the hook once i lifted it out of the water.)
and the sad news is we ran out of steel line (leaders) so we tied the hooks to our line and i hook a pike right next to shore (maybe 3-5 lbs) and snapped my line or really cut the line with its teeth.

my grandma caught two walleye back to back lol.
