Nope, you can do it that early, and nope, that did not ruin them.

Just keep your hands clean when you do it.

So I'm hearing conflicting reports on humidity levels. I read 45-55% then on the incubation page it says 55-65%. Now I'm reading to keep it low so I'm confused. Which should it be? I've been between 45-50 for the first 7 days but now I'm worried? should it be at a different level?

BTW I'm setting up a second incubator for my remaining 22 eggs. I was saving it to use for hatching so hopefully in 8 days I have some room for egg swapping!

I have an LG9200, Dry incubation....1-18days no water in bator, last 3 days I add to bump humidity, open red plugs with a fan. check your email in a bit and I'll tell you why...explaining...

Yay!!

My bator held strong between 99.3 and 99.8

And is currently 99.5 and 43%
So as soon as the girls lay todays eggs, I can set them all

Can't wait to catch up to everyone and candle and hatch!

I can see this being very addictive

As for the humidity...
different things work for different people.
I have been most successful with humidity around 50% then bumped up to 70% for hatch.
That will not work for everyone.
I've tried "dry" hatching... only got 3/16 chicks. Most I lost in the 2nd week, several failed to pip.
High humidity works for me - so I will continue to use what works for me.
You have to try a few different methods to find out what works best for you.
At around day 10 I candle to see which eggs are developing. I don't like to leave the "clears" in the 'bator. They take up room and they have the potential for smelly disaster. And I'm also a little OCD when it comes to organization. If they don't belong in there, I can't leave them in. (Except my first time setting peafowl eggs... I left them in for almost 3 weeks... I just kept hoping.)

Candled the eggs under the broody - only 1 is developing

And now my two silkie hens are trying to take her eggs. Perhaps I will have to give them each a couple of eggs.

I have 9 eggs picked out to incubate but need to wait until the hubby goes to work tomorrow to start them.

3 cuckoo maran eggs (that is what my broody has also)

3 Stubby eggs

3 Sunny the splash cochin eggs

THATS ALL!!!!

My doz. silkies are due Sept.11-12
but humidity drop this morning to 40% I puled out the red plug
and
I added a teaspoon of warm water and it rose up but dont know why it dropped.

While eggs develop humidity will move around a bit, as the humidity in the HOME air varies (heat or AC changes that) the incubator humidity moves. So even a lot more sun coming in can change things.

That's why it's best to locate it in the most stable room in the house. In mine it's the furthest room from the HVAC, without a south facing window.

What humidity works in any one home, city, state and country varies hugely. So you just learn to find what works best. I run mine dry. Some people have to fight up the humidity the whole hatch. I only pay attention if I have shipped eggs that might have lost moisture in shipping.

When I used a "normal" humidity my hatches drowned. Really depressing.

I added more eggs yesterday so they're now five days apart. The results should be interesting.

My first possible frizzled del or rock has been hatched. Half the size of a normal chick, black and red, yellow feet. Cute little spud. He's running with his sibling delaware/partridge rocks. He looks like a dwarf.
