lol well thanks for the thought anyways! If I could somehow secretly get my hands on some silkie eggs and stick em in the bator, hubby probably wouldn't say anything, but I'm sure if I asked him right now he'd tell me to wait till we get the bantam coop built and then I probably wouldn't have silkies for another 2 years

Just do what I did...
Hatch the silkies, then tell DH that they have to have their own coop before you can put them outside.

Surprisingly, my DH loves the silkies! He thought they were "weird looking muppets that don't have a purpose" (because they don't lay well & have tiny eggs... and the birds, themselves, are too small to eat.)
But after thay hatched, We ended up with a gorgeous blue. Dh fell in love with her. Here's my husband toting this little grey chick through the house, talking to it!
He kept "Toodee" on his lap almost the entire time they were in the house. He also named 2 of the sizzle chicks - "Liz" (Elizabeth Taylor) & "Coco" (Chanel) - I think he's got a weakness for the cute ones!

pipped - poked shell, not necessarily a hole, sometimes just a dent
zipped - when the chick makes a crack around the shell... to pop the top off and get out (kind of like a can opener)
