Who else is setting... I wanna see pics!

I gave her the eggs first thing in the morning.

She lets me look at the eggs - we have an understanding. The biggest issue is keeping the silkies from laying underneath her. They burrow under her until she lets them lay an egg there - with her sitting half on top of the silkie.

I'm sure she is eating at some point. She is still a chunkie little thing.

Once we get a "farm" I will be getting a cabinet incubator. Those are soooo nice. I've been experimenting with hatching out sex-linked babies and am hoping they will lay the super dark eggs. Won't know until probably Christmas time though.

I put 9 tufted rumpless Araucana eggs and 4 white bobwhite eggs in last night. I'll be adding a few more this week and taking them out in cycles as they prepare to hatch. Crossing my fingers. Good Luck to everyone hatching right now!!

hello pbj...how are you? ....I set eggs yesterday....the maddness begins...

so far so good with temp/humidity....*fingers crossed*

She is only sitting on 4 eggs - I have enough chicks for this season - but she is soooo determined and such a good mama that I let her keep 4 eggs. I just candled them and three of the 4 look promising.

yeah I set 8 yesterday and have managed to get a house/lap chicken within 24hrs lol and I think Lucky will make it to be a long term pet as well

Did you contact him yet? I did get a refund. Unless someone says he has changed his packing methods I will not take a chance again.

We made satisfactory arrangements. I've purchased eggs from him before that arrived intact. There's no excuse for 2 broken packages going out the same day, but I'm not going to hold it against the seller. I'm hoping it was a fluke... or an angry postal worker... and won't happen again.

Have you hatched buttons before? This is my first time. They are sooo tiny! I'm excited to have chicks tiny enough to fit in those itty bitty shells!

Does everyone else candle much?

I candle before I set the eggs. I candle at day 7 or 10ish. Then I candle whenever the need arises! (I'll candle the pea eggs every couple days if I don't see movement... I just can't bear to throw them out until I'm absolutely sure!)​
