I'm here... still waiting on the guinea. If it waits until day 28, that is Friday.
I've got quail crying. I separated the buttons from the cortunix & chicken chicks today. The cortunix are pretty much over it, but the buttons just don't seem to understand. I figured it would be easier on the buttons because they get to stay in the same brooder. I removed the others and put them in a new brooder.
Oh, well.
I have to go back out & check my ladies. I came home yesterday to dead silence at the coop. All the ladies had 'put themselves away' inside the coop & it was only 5pm. I called, "chick, chick, chick!" and a red-tailed hawk flew off. It was about, oh, 10 feet from the door of my coop... shoulder level.
I have a high fence around the run, but no netting over the top. DH is adding all my 'extras' for the new hatches and we didn't want to mess with the run until we were done with the structures.
I've heard the hawks near the house for a few weeks, but they're getting much bolder. My ladies are bigger than the hawks, but I still don't trust hawks.
I'll be back online later this evening. DH is at work & I have a few hours tonight.
There better be a pic of Stubby on here soon... animal control... LOL!

hmmm... is right!
I have my laying hens, a 5 month old pullet, 4 month olds, 3 month olds, 3 month old peafowl, 2 month olds, the 2 kinds of quail, the days old chicks, one dog, 2 cats, horses, a 4yo child & a 7yo child which are homeschooled K & 2nd grade, the quail egg due this week, and this is my weekend to work.
I need goats. Are yours meat or dairy?
DH wanted to get dairy goats, but I don't think he realizes the commitment & I don't know if I want to go out & milk DH's goats every morning.
LOL!

walkswith....and you have time to come see us here!! wow...I have my flock. My Porc. D'uccle coop, my buff coop those are the 1mo. olds...the new borns...lol, I have 7 dogs big to little, my parrots...4...cats...and we have to built more coops...

Farrier at least you found a way out, antibotics...Not me, cant...Mine is a work injury...upper back...taking medication that knocks me out big time and then when awake cant function. Pending possible surgery, rather not...Im a medic, and afraid if I cant get this fixed, might be my end days of running on a Rig.

Glad your feeling better though!!!

Walks...I think we are both dealing with the same situation...LOL...I have 2 month olds, 2 weeks old, 1 week olds, 3 days old, 2 days old, and more that should be hatching within 2 weeks from now. (about 80 or so more eggs) I also have to build an enclosure for my DH silver pheasants we just got...surround the run with poultry wire....build a couple more brooders...and also deal with turkeys, ducks, geese, and existing flock. Isn't it great!!!

Where did you get the serama eggs from? I want some sooo bad...Good luck with the rest of the eggs hatching!

I get the serama eggs from a neighbor

he's a good friend he is. He's just taken to giving me his surplus for fall/winter when he doesn't hatch...
I'm going to just keep hatching til I get the color collection I want. Chuckle. Seramas are hard enough to hatch it will be a challenge. Have a few ideas on hatching to try.

Pity you're not closer or I'd pass on the chicks in colors I don't need to you

they sure are adorable little suckers.

Right now I need a chocolate cockeral and another chocolate pullet or two, and pullets from my birchen guy and his lady... Fortunately she is laying now.

This is nuts.

My goats are mini-nigi or kiko/mini crosses, and one found pygmy butthead. I want nubians not sure I'm going to breed any breed yet. All the boys are wethers. Right now I need goats for kudzu and brush. If I think I can handle it later, I'll take the nubian to a buck at someone else's house...

LOL my sizzle of the infertile eggs is trying to brood for the first time, so I stole four tiny eggs and gave her four huge delaware eggs, she all but purred... silly little thing, she can hardly sit on them, I think her max might be six.
