Who else is waiting for that first egg?

My girls turn 17 weeks this week! One of them has turned real red in the comb!! So maybe soon? Seems too soon but I'm on lookout! I need to get their box ready and let them get used to it! My Rooster was mounting her a lot the past few days but he's gone to a new home now.

Daft question, but how can you tell who has laid what?x

I am guessing it was 2 repeat layers. But every egg I get looks different between coloring and shape. Like its unique to the bird. The ones I am guessing are repeat layers, have the same identical color, shape and in same spot in nesting boxes. And have been like that 3 days in a row. I have not singled it to individual birds yet. But 2 of the 3 soft shelled eggs I got last night I watched them lay them.

Chicks are 19 weeks & no eggs yet. I talk to them nearly every evening to encourage them they can start anytime. Check again tomorrow.

So I saw one of my girls lay their first egg two days ago, it was a soft shell. But before I had time to evem run and tell my wife they had busted it open and started devouring it! I havent seen another egg since, do you think they have eaten the eggs before I even get to see them? How can i prevent this!? I have never fed them egg with a shell, only scrambled or boiled.

Their first couple eggs could just be soft because its new to their body. I would wait it out and if nothing changes, look into it deeper

My new pullets just turned 21 weeks old. I am waiting for their first eggs. They are in with my 14 month old hens which lay very well. Hoping they get the idea.

Yay! Finally got an egg this morning! Two! One was broken so I was only able to remove the shell.

I've been getting steady eggs for about a week now but every other day one of my red sex links has been laying double yolkers....on a consistent basis. Any answers as to why this happens?

I GOT MY FIRST TWO EGGS!!!!!!

I got a lovely perfect medium sized pale pinkish brown egg from my barred this morning! Then my husband let me know that he found a soft shelled and leaky tiny egg from my golden seabright bantam! Look at that teeny tiny egg in the grass! Aww.
