OMG! I knew I couldn't be the only one looking for chicken ornaments! I felt like a crazy person at Target last night getting mad because there were no chickens!
I think I'm going to make some like these (http://www.bronners.com/1089894.html) and give them to everyone (as if they aren't sick of my chicken-talk already!)
I can even use feathers from my chickens!!!1 Aaah everyone will hate me!!!!
I go to Bronner's in Frankenmuth, MI, at least once per year to select a new random Christmas ornaments. (My dad's family is from Frankenmuth, so I spend quite a bit of time in that town and know it quite well). It's an amazing store, and if you're ever up in Michigan and have the chance to visit, I highly recommend it.
I have a ridiculous amount of chicken ornaments. My tree looks like a coop! I've bought some of them, and some people have given to me as gifts. I don't have a picture of all of them lined up, but here is a picture of one:
This picture was taken to highlight my "cheffing" (I made pinecones with almond paste, almonds and chocolate), but there is a rooster hanging on the tree below the cardinal ornament in the background.
I designed a knit hen with plastic egg and chick inside that I also use as a Christmas ornament. I have red vinyl loops that I use to hang them from the tree. If you're interested, they are pictured at
