Who has purchased eggs from ebay ? and what was your hatch rate ?

I honistly daren't get any more silkie eggs I hatch a batch of 10 white silkie eggs and most of them never even started developing :( was so devastated !

Try getting the eggs from a local breeder. They won't go through the stress of shipping and be so much more likely to hatch. :)

So exciting, Ms Steak!!! :)

Hfchristy, I use a Little Giant incubator too with no fan or turner. It does not hold a temp well but I'm beginning to think maybe it's not that necessary as long as it can keep the temperature between 98-102F.

I got mine from this seller. http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/cluckingwell?_trksid=p2047675.l2559 every single one was fertile, and 4 made it to lock down.

I have had, like many others mixed success from ebay-eggs. Best was 6/6 pekin ducks. Worste was prolly a zilch. Mostly 50/50 unless you get a real lucky/unluck batch/breeder.
My most recent are due Sat. and these I prolly won't get to upset if they hatch poorly. They came cracked, pecked, muddy and covered in poo. LH faired better than BR. Sad thing is I got some gold/slver SL from a local guy and have 2/12 left and those are iffy at best. I think he doesn't want compatition locally for egg sales. When I saw the eggs I got from other sources, and then my eggs, and saw developement stages thats when I hit the "My eggs from My birds" stubborness. If I get a few hatched great, if not I prollyt won't get any other eggs for awhile except from my birds. Disapointing to pay$6-$18 dz and get scambled eggs. At the restaraunt its 1.99 for em and those you CAN eat.

To be honest, I didn't candle the eggs until they had been in the incubator for a few days. I had thought it best to let everything settle and left well alone for a few hours before starting them off too. They were well packaged and handled very carefully by the courier, much to the amusement of my twenty year old son who thinks this is all madness! He's not wrong.

Congrats, MsSteak! I will be happy if I hit that on my eggs. :)

5 Acre Rooster, I definitely like hatching my own eggs WAY better and hope that is all I'll be doing by next year. :)
