I know some of my chickens have scaly leg mites, so who has them and who doesn't? Some look like they have mites and some look like they don't have mites. Even if some of them look like they don't have mites should I still treat the ones that look like they don't have mites?

I just see old scales that haven't come off yet to reveal the younger ones underneath.. doesn't look like SLM crusty yellow overgrowth coming in between those scales to me. The ones with less loose looking scales also have shorter spurs.

Yes, if you treat one then treat them all if possible.

I think it's age related according to my experience and discussions with my own vet.

Use your best judgement.. most treatments won't hurt EVEN if it was unnecessary.

So they probably don't have SLM? I just wasn't sure if any of them had SLM, some of them have raised scales and some of them don't. I have three 7yo chickens, three 6yo chickens, one 5yo chicken, four 3yo chickens, and seven 11 week old chicks whom I didn't post pics of.

That's my opinion, but you should use YOUR best judgement.

Raised scales *can* be (doesn't mean is) ONE symptom of SLM. Look at the other symptoms.. age, crust level, etc.. and determine if it adds up to SLM to you.

Adjusting the lighting and magnification on my monitor.. might also adjust my "opinion".. by that, I mean I think it does and i would probably think about treating as it's better safe than sorry and older age can make it more challenging to fight parasite things off. I am sorry for being wishy washy and not giving a clear answer.

Here is an article for review..

Bare minimum I would wanna get a closer look at those in the first pic.. maybe a soak and a scrub to see how loose the scale are and what's going on under there.. The missing feathers make me wonder if there's more than I originally thought. Those long spurs make me smile!

So I don't think they have SLM. The first pic of feet is of my 3yo EE rooster, I can peel his scales of with my fingers, so they're probably just old scales. But the raised scales have been on him for awhile (the ones I can peel off), if they're old scales how long does it take for them to shed? The 1rst and 9th pics are my roosters, they seem to have the most raised scales, well actually they seem to be the only ones with raised scales. Why do only the roosters seem to have the raised scales? Also a couple of the chickens seem to have puffy(?) legs, is that just how they are?
