Read my post a few times. I said all of that in there. The poster said dark eggs, not just good egg color. To me, dark is on the end if the specrum, such as a 9. Linkage is when genes two traits are found on the same chromosome. The closer they are to one another on the chromosome, the more linked they are. If they are far apart, it is possible that part of the chromosome can break off and join on another chromosome, which is called crossing over.

I have heard that pea comb and the blue egg gene are linked, but it does not appear to be to me either.

I've read your post as well as your others in this thread many many times.
They are not clear. They're just a round about way of saying enough to look like you know what you're talking about without exactly answering anything to the subject.
Your posts are really well written to go around and around or as you would say over and over again but they really don't answer anything or show anything conclusive to learn from.
That's a shame. I believe you have a lot of knowledge in some areas that many could learn from but you're so set on being right on everything that your posts come off as arguative at times and other times as someone that feels everyone else needs to prove their stance to you but you don't need to show or prove anything to anyone because your the expert.
You're correct about a lot of misinformation out there and if you truly want to clear up subjects or provide true accurate info its to bad you can't do the same as you believe others should and be called out on things and show when, where and way your correct.
About this topic.... I really didn't believe with reference to "dark" marans eggs that anyone would conclude that meant 9s on their scale from 1 to 9. That being your opinion this conversation can be over because I'd agree. It would be almost impossible to have quality exhibition birds that lay consistent 9s. Heck it would be almost impossible to have any marans consistently lay 9s. Not that its not genetically impossible but just that that bar is pretty d*mn high to reach. That's the perfect egg.
I wouldn't think a breeder would see dark meaning a 9. That kinda sets them up for never reaching a "dark" egg themselves. Pretty unimpressive for a marans breeder to always have to say "no my birds don't lay "dark" eggs.
I'll catch you on a different thread one day but this one is dead.

My post don't spells things out for several reasons. First, I like to think people have the ability to think. Maybe I am too generous in that respect. Also, as rude as everyone has been on BYC, why would I give a detailed recipe? That is why I have said I will help local youth if they want my help. If not, I will help my son. If people don't appreciate something, why continue? If you gave someone Christmas gifts every year, and they kee throwing them in the trash, and telling you they were horrible, would you keep giving them Christmas gifts? People on BYC know everything already. That is why poultry is in bad shape overall, and why the fancy is in the shape that it is.
