Gojira,
The French Standard and the APA standard are not that different . you can breed to the French standard and still show successfully in an APA show. Please stop being curt with eggsighted4life. it comes across as rude when you read it. Thank you. Ok that last sentence in post #90 was rude.
Best,
Karen

So you follow the French Standard, not the American? Why is that?

You said your birds are meh. You said you want only good birds. I thonk the poster wanted excellent birds, as the poster appears to be a junior interested in exhibition.

You say you want average birds, then say you go by the standard, which now you say is the French Standard. I go by the American standard, as that is what is used when I exhibit birds. You are the one that claimed to cull hard. I was just calling you on it. Say what you mean, and mean what you say. So many people, particularly on here, talk about culling hard, seemingly trying to impress others, when they really don't. From what YOU say, if you culled hard, you would have no birds.
Yes, I breed to the French standard... I'm breeding French Black Copper Marans, because that's what I choose to do!

I didn't say my birds were meh, but that if it's your opinion they are even though you've NEVER seen them, then you are entitled to you opinion and it has not effect on how I feel. Yes, I want excellent birds and that's what I'm working towards.

Fine you version of culling hard and mine are two separate things. And yes NONE of my birds are perfect. But I have good birds and I'm starting from there. Period. I have noone to impress and anybody who sees my posts know that I'm here to be helpful and not hurtful to other people. I do say what I mean and mean what I say. But you are like Satan trying to twist everything that comes out of my mouth into whatever you want it to mean. Your perception and interpretation and childish at best. You try to put others down in order to bring yourself up. Why can't you just state YOUR peace without trying to tear someone else down? Low self esteem much? Lack of friends or life?

I don't care how curt or rude you are, that's exactly how it comes off. Not like your all intelligent. Talk about dumbing things down I'm not even sure you understand English the way you just keep going round and round repeating you spew and twisting my words. You truly are the first person I met on BYC that if I never see you on another thread won't disappoint me at all. ANYBODY who knows me knows my word is good. I make full disclosure of anything I know whether I'm asked or not because lying by omission is still lying. It's the core of who I am. You clearly don't know me.

Either way, since you are here to argue and I am here to have a good time and learn about chickens while possibly making friends along the way... we have nothing in common and I will NOT reply to anything you post again. Thanks for showing me, it's not true that we are all friends here. :hmm

Still wish you the best. Life is too short. :)

What did you mean earlier when you stated that you are learning the SOP? I took that to mean the Standard of Perfection. I took that to mean you were using that, not the French Standard. I am in the US, so I use the American Standard. That way, if someone gets a bird from me, they can show it in an APA sanctioned show and hopefully do well. This is in the Exhibition, genetics, and breeding to the Standard of Perfection section.

You keep changing what you say. First, you wanted good birds, then you had good birds and wanted them to be great, now you have good birds and want them to be excellent. I think you need to decide what you really want. It might save time and effort. Also, it would be easier starting with better birds. I try to start with the best I can find, even if it means shipping eggs or birds.

If you don't cull hard, don't say you do. You weren't even asked about culling. You decided you would offer that for no real reason. If you were, at best, exaggerating, how is your word good?
I never said i dumb things down. Moonshiner said that about me. I just stated i write so an elementary student can understand. Would you rather that i use more technical terms? Would that make me seem more intelligent? Who have I put down? I have stated my peace, but you would rather argue. I am not intending to be rude. I speak matter of factly. If you look on the opening page of this forum, it says to expect people to be straight forward. Should i write as if everyone is overly sensitive? If you feel i talk in circles, it seems you try to get me away from what i say, hoping i will change what i say? I am not going to change what i say just because someone does not like it. The truth is the truth, and facts are facts. Does it really bother you that I mean what I say? Part of the problems in Poultry today are that people either lie to market themselves and their birds, or they really don't know much, and give out misinformation. Neither helps the hobby. I am not here to make friends. I am here to help people, and I also like to clear up myths and misinformation. If someone has misled you, that is not my fault. I am not going to go along with misinformation just because someone told you something or you read something on the internet. That is another reason I try to be very plain and matter of fact when I write. I don't want anyone to misunderstand me, and then spread misinformation based on something I have written.

How is it rude to tell someone that said they cull hard and breed to the SOP that has birds that stray from the SOP that if the culled hard they would have no birds? I do cull hard. I learned that early in life. I cull from hatch. You mention you have been involved eith dogs. I have as well. My main mentor in dog breeding (as opposed to training) started with over 100 dogs and used less than 10 for breeding. In poultry, i probably use less than one percent for breeding. I want the best of the best. I think one problem today is that people say they want yo breed according to the Standard, but they go into it with the mindset that they will not get there, and breed inferior birds just because they have a trait that stands out. If people would put mire thought and effort into breeding birds, there would be more and better birds at the shows. Maybe that is why people spread misinformation, so that they have less competition. I have met knowledgeable breeders, and they freely offer advice to those who ask. Maybe I should go back to lurking, as it seems no one is interested in learning, and don't like people that correct misinformation with the intent of helping people new to the fancy, particularly youth.

Right on eggsighted4life !
My pullets started laying last week
Egg size nothing to crow about (medium) but the color is really nice . I was so excited. I'd rather see the right color than the size. Size can always be improved .
hey did you know that if you add Alltech All-G-Rich to your birds feed that they will lay eggs that have three times as much DHA ( Omega 3 ) as a regular egg? global.alltech.com nuts,my phone is not showing the whole URL , sorry.
pretty cool huh? All-G-Rich is a specialized strain of microalgae that Alltech has developed for this purpose.
Best ,
Karen

Just curious, how would someone get All-G-Rich? How would you mix it with feed? Most people don't have those resources. Also, one should keep aware of the omega 6 to omega 3 ratio in the feed.

It is not hard to breed excellent dogs if you start with 100. it is much harder to breed excellent dogs if you start with two. unsubscribing.
