btw everyone has such lovely roosters! I adore them all xD

Here is my black faverolles bantam rooster. He is one of about 25 maybe 30 birds of this size and color. I am hatching chicks from him now trying to improve beards on the males by breeding to heavily bearded hens. It seems to be working we will see I have 4 newly hatched chicks and 12 eggs due the 11th. Some of his relatives have great beards so hopefully it works.

Just had to share pictures of my runt rooster, Ivory!
love.gif
He's very pretty, IMO, but manly...? Not so much.
roll.png
But I think he's cute! Hopefully he will soon become a big, manly rooster...For now, he remains smaller than what he should be and loves to cuddle.
lol.png

Here he is with the younger chicks, sunbathing...two are snuggled under his wing/near his legs.

He enjoys spending time with the chicks, but he's really scared of the mother hen (who is *ahem* a tiny little Bantam hen...and yes, he's terrified of her!

)

As a chick he was an "only-child" and was raised by me in a brooder box...he was a runt due to stunted growth, which explains why he's so small and not as mature as he should be now. He rarely crows, he never chases/dances (the rooster dance
tongue.png
)/tries to mount anyone or anything like a normal, young rooster would. In fact, he doesn't even have a manly rooster tail yet.
hmm.png
You could almost easily mistake him for a hen, except for his manly voice (at least he has that to prove he's not a hen!
roll.png
) and other limited rooster-ish features. Not to mention he has little hen-like stubby spurs.

Also, the pictures above aren't very recent...probably over a month old. Now he looks similar, only something happened to that bright red, large comb. It actually seems like it shrunk!
hu.gif
Either that or he grew bigger, but his comb stayed the same size.
hmm.png
It makes him look like a hen. And also lately he hasn't been feeling very well and he probably has a "bad heart" because he sometimes gets a purple comb and acts ill for a day, then is fine the next. And he has lost a lot of weight lately.
sad.png

But anyway, he's still doing OK...still hoping he learns to become a "real" rooster sometime.
fl.gif
Maybe once the younger chicks (his future hen flock) grow up, he'll find love and take charge of his flock and learn what it means to be a true flock rooster, caring for his own hens, etc...rather than being a lowest-in-the-pecking-order rooster who acts like a hen. Either way, I still love him and he'll always be my baby rooster.

He has a friend which is a hen and her name is Penny!

Penny and Percy are a great duo and hopefully turn out to have some cute babies!

Here is little Penny

Here is my boy, I wouldn't quite call him manly, but he is pretty and cute. I think his humongous muffs ruined his manliness..
