Who here has brought home more chicks then they originally planned?

I was originally going to get 3 but then I ended up with 6!

I started out with the plan to buy 15 faverolles and a couple of silkies, made my order and found out they would not be here till June. So I bought 5 silkies from a local breeder (2 were not silkies and a raven got one and one is a runt which left me with 2 (or 1 and a half). Then I cancelled my order for the faverolles and put in an order for 25 wyandottes which will come May4th from the feedstore. A little later said feedstore had bantams

come in so I bought 20, A week later I got intrigued by the "Leannes Adopt Me" assortment at Myers Hatchery and ordered 25. Today I put in an order for 15 silkies from Myers. Perfect Chicken Math?

I don't even want to know how many that adds up to.

With the exception of the wyandottes they are straight run so I am going to sell and give away my roosters as they become apparent which should cut my numbers back. I am done for this year, maybe for forever!!

I do have a large coop and plenty of room which helps.

I planed on 8 chickens and 3 Guineas. Now I have 5 Guineas, 1 rooster, 11 chickens, 15 more in the bator, and 10 silkies coming in May. I'm sure there will be more as I am hooked on hatching.

My husband showed up last week with 20 baby chicks from TSC!

I don't know if they are boys or girls! I said 5, 10 tops, but he obviously did not hear me! I think I am going to have to buy the chicken for dumbies book!!!

We started with 5 not quite two years ago. We got more and were up to 22 in September. We then got more in March, which took us up to 30, but two died - including the one my son wanted...soooo...we went to tractor supply to replace that one. We came home with four. My niece dropped off one more, and now we are up to 33. And to think I was the one resistant to getting the first five. Love my chickens and the great new math I've learned with them!
