Who Here Has The Flu?

It makes me freak out a little about even taking them places, especially in winter. Preschool? Virus. Grocery store? Virus? Restaurant? Virus. Playdate? Virus. And now the zoo! Makes me want to never let them in school full time. What's going to happen then?

All I can say is this....be afraid, be VERY afraid!!!! You would be amazed at how many kids come to school with their parents KNOWING they are sick. I have a child with severe asthma and eczema (therefore a compromized immune system anyway) and we get some doozies.

Last year we actually got chicken pox!!! Didn't even realize that was still possible!!!!

Great, thanks folks, this thread jinxed me. I now have my 5 year old in bed complaining that her stomach hurts and doesn't feel good...

Actually, it was probably her schoolmate I saw throwing up in the garbage can when I showed up to pick her up Wednesday, so I can't say I didn't see it coming.

Sigh...

Just my 2 cents (since that's all I have), but after reading this I went to the CDC website to track flu outbreaks (It's good to know that they are on top of things, since the stats were from the end of May), but it seems like the flu outbreaks were on a decline and considered to be "normal". Some strains of salmonella can mimic the flu, sudden onset, fever, GI distress, and with a major outbreak of salmonella it can be hard to tell the difference.

So just out of curiosity, was your "flu" actually confirmed as flu by tests?

Just wanted to know before I stock up on gloves, masks and bleach.
