Who here raises Buff and White Africans?

I USED TO RAISE GRAYS. In a sense you are right, I have never seen a show quality White or Buff African, let alone one that could take best of Breed, so I was being a grouch.
Have you?
BTW you never did state just what level you considered as "wining a show"~grouchdragon, lol

I have seen show quality whites and buffs. Many of the color varieties easily beat the pants off the grays. Not many folks have them that good, but they do exist. "Winning a show" can mean anything - "best of (color) variety, best of breed, best of class (heavy, medium, light), best of geese, best of waterfowl, best of entire show" - any of those will cut it.

Well IF YOU are right and the whites are APA reconized One will always win for best of variety (White) if entered and not DQ'ed, They will "win a show" by your defination and your question becomes senseless! GROUCH but LOGICAL ()I()

Well here in CA it is. You can NOT win best of Breed with a bird that isnt in the standard... Talk to any well known Judges.. they will tell you the same...

Yep and around these parts and at the nationals it is stiff competition with the whites.. but yes, in the boonies where there is only one white african in the whole town, i imagine it would win its color class. But if that is the scenario for someone on here, they would have posted that, and it would let me know that it wasnt really that big of a win. However, I appreciate all wins as they take lots of time, effort, and money.

How exactly does my question become senseless? Can you really say that without knowing my motives and logic behind asking the question in the first place?

This is kind of a moot point, seeing as whites are apa recognized..

According to APA SECRETARY Pat Horstman, although Buff Africans are not yet recognized as a color, most shows still allow them in as a color class. He also went on to say that that fact obviously allows them to compete against the other winners in the breed, and still advance on. He said it depends on the show director/sponsor, but generally they are accepted. He also said that they are usually shown at the APA nationals as well. You are welcome to contact him and verify.

Where the h*** do you think the birds in the National come from if not from the boonies? Someone in KY should know better!
"And I mean not just one or two of, but a breeder pair or two.. And who did you purchase yours from? Have they won any shows? How long have you guys raised you Africans?

Well it is pretty disorganized but in view of what you have posted since I think maybe you were looking for a place to buy some high quality stock, so either your question or your view on "winning a show" is senseless in my book. You already defended your views on "winning a show" so I concluded your question was at fault. BTW can you cite a LARGE show where the new colors won Best of Breed let alone anything higher.
Also Pat Horstman is elected and is not listed as a judge (I checked) so it does not make the last word for the APA.

OK.. contact someone that knows more than the bookkeeper/secretary of the APA and lets see if they have a different point of view..
Judges have no authority over what colors can be shown at a particular show.. It is the show sponsors/promoters that control that.

And my question, "have they won any shows", was simply to initiate a discussion on the showing of african color morphs.. nothing more.. Any level of show suffices for a good show discussion.

Thanks for the interesting conversation though, grouchdragon. Maybe you should read a little more before commenting though.
