Yeah, broody hatches are the best. Congratulations! And, yes, pipped is the correct word for breaking through the shell.

Yes these are my first of this breed and boy are the eggs big and dark!!!

I also have some silkies and an assortment of colors of marans that are on day 14.

So hopefully in 6 months I will have quite a few really large dark eggs.

I'm on day 20 with Silkie eggs I bought on eBay. Out of 15, 11 made it to day 18, and out of the 11 left, 8 have hatched so far.

This will be my last hatch of the year.

Today was day 21 for me too!! I had 6 under a broody and 4 in the basement in the bator. The hen hatched 5 and I hatched 3, then I snuck the 3 under the broody this evening. These were all americana mixes, the 4 I got off ebay and the rest were mine. I also have the last set of eggs of the summer ready to hatch this sunday the 7th.. I will be out of town from Saturday to Monday so I wll be in a hurry to get home Monday evening... I am trying something new since I always loose 2 or 3 by the early chicks rolling eggs. I had the DH get me some cedar shavings and put them in the bottom of the home made bator and then set the eggs in them so that the chicks can wander around and not roll the rest. The humidity is staying at 65 so everything is looking great. I have frizzle eggs from Dipsy Doodle and some that I got from ebay, I will let you know how things go when I get back. Jenn

Adam, I am the one pestering Cyn wanting to know how your hatch is going.
I am so excited for you.
I hatched some of hers just a month ago, but only the barred rock hatched since we were in such horrid weather and my post office goofed up. So I am really excited to see what some of Suede's babies look like, none of Suede's hatched in my batch.

So please keep us updated, I am living the hatch thru you!
