Who Is At Day 18 or 21 Today on Their Hatch??

Which? Sleep at school? Yeah, but I don't recommend it. The floors too hard, turns out.

Or do you mean hatching at school? Yep, to that too. 2nd grade.

Nothing yet, by the way. More movement, but no pipping. I'm getting worried now.

I'm on Day 20 with mine now and they've become very still-hopefully just the calm before the storm. Mark, just make sure the humidity is up to about 70%, if you have a hygrometer. Pump it way up there.

Cyn, not trying to jack your hatching post, but I have a quick question. Does a hydrometer work exactly the same as the Accurite from Wal-Mart? Is humidity just the same? I have two wal-mart thermometers that also measure humidity. The temps are relatively the same, but the humidity reads 10 degrees difference between the two. Would an actual hydrometer be more accurate or will I just confuse myself more by getting one? (I was actually looking at one in the eggcartons.com site.) My hatches haven't been all that great and I really want to get my ducks in a row before I get eggs from you next spring. (Oh I guess that is my chicks in a row!)

I'm not sure if just a hygrometer would be more accurate. I have two of those AcuRites. One hygro reads about 5% too low. You can calibrate it to see by placing it in a ziplock with a pile of wet salt in a cup, not dissolved, just wet, for about 8 hours. It should read 75% on the dot. Whatever it varies by, you can adjust when you do your readings.

Hmmmm, nothing at all since about 4 this morning. Humidity is nailed at 70%. I have no finger nails left. And I'm out of coffee. The kids say I'm losing it. Pretty perceptive for a bunch of 7 year olds.

Cyn, all the kids say that if this doesn't work, they want to try again. Maybe you could start collecting for us.
