Who is hatching on Nov. 14???

I've had that happen before. It usually just dries up and falls off after awhile. I'd just give it a little while if it's not causing too much trouble.

No stress, Baldie! Just a remaining bit of the yolk sac. Sometimes they come out before it falls off. Just leave her be. It is a bad sign when they hatch early (or someone 'helps' them out before it is time), and the whole unabsorbed yolk sac is attached. Often these die.

So relax and enjoy the endorphin high!

Right!!! I didn't know what it was until I got the flashlight! Its starting to dry up now. I felt bad she couldn't even walk around, poor thing, she kept getting stuck to everything!!

Jennifer - If you had a showgirl they would grow on you! I don't care for other kinds of NN, but I love my white showgirl roo. I think it helps that he has a boa around his neck.

Congrats to everyone on their hatches so far - and Jim - thanks for explaining your screen name - always wondered about that myself. That is my kind of stupid humor.

Awwww, PBJ, what a cutie. Shouldn't it just be a 'Showboy'?

You know, I have spent my whole life picking the sickest, weakest, pets that no one else wanted at the humane society or horse auction. I do have an affinity for the unusual. I changed my comment a little while ago to say 'funny looking.' And you are absolutely right, I would love them.

It's just, in Maine, I would be neurotic about their necks getting cold.

Gosh, I am going to have 100% hatch with my Orps. That is a first for me.

Hope everyone is doing well!

solsken on the wellies the pullets look more like the chipmunks. They have a very defined v on their heads going all the way down their backs. They are darker brown too where the cocks have a blurry or non defined v and tend to have more of a honey or gold on the body. also pull out a wing and look at the tip where the quills are at the end. If the quills are straight and the same length its a roo if one quill is long the next short or uneven so to speak it is a pullet. On the cuckoos if you have some of both sexes it is easy as soon as they are dry. Check the wing quills plus the pullets are very black on their heads neck and back. The roos are lighter like a dark gray. And the spot on the head of the pullet is defined where the roo is blurry and splotty.

I was woken up at 5 this morning (What I was wishing wouldnt happen, happend) to a 2/6 of a way pipped egg chirping its head off, I was tired so I figured it would be out in a couple hours, its 6 now and its out. I had to go to class so I left it in the brooder to dry. I just put her/him in the bator and it wont stop chirping! it does not like to be alone!

I have a picture that I will upload in a second

I got no sleep because of this little bugger, he wont shut up!

it's also partly my fault sence I have my brooder and bator' in my room
