Who is pipping and waiting right now??

It's going to take as long as it wants, 5 minutes to 3 days.

Just leave it be, and if it's incubating under a hen, then it's your choice if you want to leave it with them. If they're in a place where they can't get out, get eaten or pecked, get stuck, and can get food/water, then leave them with mom. I personally plan on taking the chicks from the mothers and putting them in a brooder because my broody-pen is not chick-proof.

I have one very large-lunged coturnix chick cheering on his siblings in the hatcher right now... several are pipped and wiggling... still hoping for that Golden, Sam!!!

Okay, I am waiting and there is no pipping. I am so stressed about his hatch. I have some expensive eggs in the bator and today was day 21 and I don't have one pip. The eggs are so dark I couldn't see a thing when I tried to candle.
They are black copper and wheaton marans and I did everything right as far as I know on the temps and humidity. I haven't opened the bator or disturbed anything.I stopped turning right on time.I have hatched before and had a great success rate, I am using a genesis 1588.
Well, keeping my fingers crossed that these are just late bloomers.

I have heard that Marans are slower and need slightly lower humidity than 'regular' eggs. Its something about the layers of color. I dont know from experience since mine are only 5 weeks old but I can tell you in a half a year or so!
Hang in there! They may come out yet!

I have a Maran out and yelling at 3:30 am and several pips! They were due yesterday - nothing!

I am trying to not open the bator - it's a Sportsman - with the wood door - can't see anything but sorta sounds like he/she may have a buddy out not - not yelling so bad - just normal peeping......

Bet I get a plexiglass door before fall!

Oh my goodness- three of the Serama eggs from Frank are hatching this morning- a day early! I got NOTHING out of the Frizzle Polish eggs that were due yesterday... and surprise surprise, I looked in the other incubator- and three beaks peeking out at me!!!! Two of them at the WRONG end of the egg, but still poking out and peeping

I would be beside myself without a window to see in! Congrats on your Marans baby!

lesliet! I am sooooo sorry you have to go to work! I think maternity leave is a legitimate reason for calling in. I mean, you worked right up until your babies birth, right? What more could your employer ask for?

I told my boss yesterday that i wanted to take today off to watch the babies hatch and she laughed at me. But going to try to work half the day today...I love having a boss that is VERY understanding. She will most likely send me home when she gets in
