Who is pipping and waiting right now??

Well, my pipped egg hatched this morning, the baby was still wet, but probably an hour or so old, maybe a little less (I've never been around to witness a hatch, so I have to guess at this.) The chick's making plenty of noise, so I'm hoping the other babies will hear and decide to start popping too, though, of course, I'll be at work all day, so i'll probably miss them too. lol

I'll post pics tonight.

Yay, Bumpkin! I'm half way and going crazy! I wish the best for your hatch! Welcome to ADDICTION!

OK, I know it's the next day, but dinner with my parents melted into an ambulance call, then putting away the babies....you get the picture.

This is the baby that was born this morning, it's probably hard to tell in this pic, but he still looks sleek like he's still wet, so it's possible the chick was already dry when I found him hatched out at 9 a.m. He probably waited until I went to bed for real, then popped out of the shell. stubborn little thing.

I'm concerned becasue he has this red blood-spot looking thing by his vent--in his vent? I saw some poops in the bator, so I know he's getting stuff out, but it looks like it's in the vent. is it the umbilical? You can see, sort of, in this second picture that there's a red spot, then a thin reddish cord that trails off from it. What do I do?

He's a cute little bugger. I sure hope at least one of the other five eggs hatch! It's officially day 21 (I know, don't be so impatient. I'm not reaching for my hammer yet.), so I'm really hoping to wake to pips in the morning.
