Day 20 for the BBS Marans...1 already pipped, zipped and was out within an hour this morning.
3-05-09 will be day 21 on the Cuckoo Marans.
I asked hubby to build me one of the homemade 'bators...he looked at me and said, "Are you kidding? If you have more 'bator space that means you will hatch even MORE! We are running out of room already!" Guess that means some intense negotiation will be required...LOL

I don't have that many chickens! 12 RIR hens and a roo, they are the mature ones that do all the laying.
Have a pair of RIR hen and roo that are 10 weeks old, the ones in the pool are 8 rosecomb RIR ( they are 5 weeks) and a hen and roo pair of Golden Cuckoo Marans ( they are 4 weeks old). See, not that many.
In the 'bator between the 2 kinds there are a total of 26 eggs, I think. Since they are shipped eggs probably half will hatch, maybe more but I plan on 50% hatch rate at the worst.
He's just thinking about having to build another coop to house everyone. Last one he built with with all free stuff, only cost was the screws and nails. Tried showing him the coop made out of pallets since he can get free pallets. Wasn't keen on it. I simply told him he shouldn't waste his time looking at the pictures of it 'cause he could never make it and have it look like the pictures...LOL Wicked and evil, I am...hehehe
We are pipping and hatching...So far the White leghorns are winning the race, followed by the Barred Rocks, Many many pips on the Black Copper Marans - no little cuties yet. I wish I could see better but the fog is definitely in the bator!
