To answer your questions...
This has been a tough hatch. I accidentally rubbed the date off the eggs and like a fool did not write it down either. I could not remember what day they were due. On top of that we have had a couple of power outages due to blizzards. I was faced with a couple of dilemas. A day ago, had a chick pipped high on the small end of the egg and almost 24 hrs. later the chick had not done anything else. It died in the shell. Lost one last month to the same circumstances
This one had pierced the air sack and I did not want to loose another one, so I got involved. Only because I am not confident of the time.
The good news is, the little critter is doing well so far. If this one dies, I would feel worse if I did nothing like the last times.

one of my ducks from the dec swap is pipped. i wasn't ready thought it might be muscovy. but must not be, today is day 25.
can it go in with my chicks? do it stay by itself til the other hatches?

Good going Hippie Jim, aka "the1much". I unplugged my bator after my Jan 1 hatch. I'm going to wait for warmer weather.

I got the bright idea that it would be cool for my nieces and nephews could see some chicks hatching on our new years get together. So, I took my 19 day old eggs in my truck cab with an inverter to keep the thing going. But the stupid American built truck cig lighter wouldn't work.

Well, I just cranked up the heat in the cab and pressed on for 6 hours. Sweating to the oldies like Richard Simmons. When I arrived I plugged in the bator and it said 110 degrees. oops! @#$

Well on the 31st (day 20) I had 2 to hatch and on the 1st I had 7 to hatch and on the 2nd I had the remaining 2 to hatch. Whew...

The nieces and nephews as well as their parents all enjoyed seeing the chicks. I felt lucky.

Hear ya got some of the biggest little rooster's eggs on the way good luck with that cause boy if you mess up that hatch your wife will be killing ya.

them kids ( and grown-ups) sure like watching hatching dont they,, shoot,, i must be up to almost a thousand hatched so far,, and it STILL amazes me,,, but least now i can walk away from day 18 to day 21

,, only till i get a window for the hatcher

and i sure do zookeeper

but i dont mess up hatch's ,,, no worries

and i wish you could see that barred rock chicks face in real life,, man aint he gonna have a beard on him,,, hehehe ,, wowz i gots me some funky BR mixes hehehehe
