Mrs. AK-Bird-Brain :
Denasfarm ~ I have two Millies brooding right now, due next Wednesday. I've been taking them off the nest and setting them by the food/water twice, sometimes three times, a day so they have a chance to poop, eat and drink. They usually stay off for about 10 minutes, stretch, scratch, etc, and it keeps them from pooping on the eggs. It CAN cause problems with bacteria, so don't be afraid to boot them off the nest for a little while.
My silies are great about getting up on their own, its the Americanas that arent budging and they poop like a big dog. This is the first time I have had them go broody so I guess they dont know what they are doing.
Are you going to let the Millies hatch and raise their own or will you bring the biddies in?
fyrwmn: I would LOVE to have guineas...maybe next year! Please post baby pics!
When I ordereed my incubator from
https://www.gqfmfg.com/store/front.asp I found it was cheaper to get the Genesis 1588 kit with the turner and two size egg trays and 30 quail eggs Plus no shipping with this kit.
ANY way I will be hatching my first quail ever when it gets here next week!
