nhnanna, I like your link to the time lapsed hatching. My little hatchlings climb on top of the remaining eggs as well I guess for the warmth. Congrats.
I'm on day 3. I have 28 eggs total....8 Japanese Bantams, 5 Foghorn Leghorns, 5 Ameracaunas and about 10 mutts. Day 3 of 21...when will they hatch?!?! Doh!
The eggs in the incubator are hatching!!! I had a power outage on day 10. Temp down to 78 for 12 hours. I thought the hatch would be bad but I have two chicks and five more piping. Yeah!
Ten now. Three more pips. We have one problem though. One chick pipped then didn't do any more. We watched and eventually it started to blow bubbles. Like it was drowning. I know your not supposed to open the 'bator but what could I do. We opened it up, cracked a little of the shell around the hole and closed the 'bator back up. The humidity had been up to 85%. It dropped down to 50% and then we sprayed some hot water into the 'bator. Humidity is at 65% now. The chick hatched on its own but, there appears to be tissue attached to the shell. It definitely doesn't look like the other hatched out shells. I hope the chick survives. He tried so hard. I'm usually not one for intervention but my daughter was so upset that I had to do something.
