Who is the mama

Duckling hatched and can’t figure out who’s the mama - I have a Cayuga , blue Swedish , or buff orpington - my drakes are Pekins. - Anyone have any guesses ? im sure it will be easier to tell once older and feathers out Meet combs ❤️❤️

I have a duckling that was similar at hatch, yellow with the gray on the back of the head and body. Named her Smudge, lol!

Her feathers are growing in mostly blue now, so I figure my blue drake (mix breed) was his dad. No idea who the mom would have been though!!!
 
I think it would have to be the Buff. That is the restricted pattern on your duckling. It is found in Silver Appleyards and is a dominant trait. But, you wouldn’t see it if they recieved the black allele from the Cayuga or Swedish (Blue has black and one blue). The restricted allele could have been hidden under the white of the Pekin drake. I suspect that this will be a very pretty duck!

I agree. It looks like it would be a buff, but I could be wrong. It is so cute! It seems like it will be a very pretty duck!
