I am sorry, I really don't mean to cause you any trouble or embarrassment. I am genuinely interested to know any religious reason why someone would not want to microchip their pet, that's all. You still have not said why. If you don't want to say just tell me you would rather not say.

I am able to tolerate a wide range of religious beliefs and find them fasitanentiang. I love all the different customs and belief's of our planet and different cultures.

Please don't feel you have to explain you statement to me, but I am sorry you made it if you can't actually be bothered to explain you point of view.

You are very lucky to live in the mountains, but if you lived in a busy city would you then consider to microchip you dog?

I lost my beloved dog many years ago and I regret every day that I did not microchip him. I often remember him and am sad and worried about how he is living now without me.

I did some research on the net and found out that some literal Christians believe that giving a microchip will be giving the mark of the devil to the dog. Any mark on an animal will be the mark of the devil like 666. I feel sorry for people who believe this. They must live their life in fear and stress thinking about all the branded and tagged cows being the devil's minions coming to get them.

Its a little more complicated than any old mark. The mark is described as one that is required to buy or sell anything. Most see it like gluing a credit card to your hand. Those chips are exactly that. It says nothing about animals though. Most people I know just believe that the chips are harmless in animals but the act of making it normal for animals is a precursor to making it normal for people an then later making it mandatory for people. Its the mandatory mark on a human to be able to buy an sell that is the real issue. Anything that pushes us closer to that end is also treated has wrong.


As for someone trying to steal my dog... No local would dare. It would take someone from out of town to even try. I am not going in to details but it would not go well. If you are on my property, multiple people know about it an your picture has been taken along with someone that is armed going out to see what you want. Could someone steal one of my dogs? Yes, there are ways. Could they get away it it? Odds are not good.

I dont know what I would do if I lived in a city. Liveing in the city would require me to break some of my core values.

I pretty much never support an all out ban, or a mandatory law. Does not matter how passionate I am about a subject. I am a strong supporter of education however. If someone is not directly causing me, or someone else, harm (ie. murdering me, stealing my dog..these are good things to include in law), then I will probably be against whatever law is being placed. You can tell me the saddest story of a dog who was lost and not able to come home because of not having a chip. That may motivate me to chip my personal animals...still isn't going to be me to suppor a law mandating it must be done. I hope people will very closely consider the difference between the two, and how they have generally played out historically.

Although microchipping in mandatory is my state I am not really a fan of it being compulsary. I would choose to have my boys done whether i had to or not. My boys are behind a 6 acre dog proof fence so generally are here all the time. I more worry about if the stupid guy that comes to read the electric metre that will at times leave the gate open. Our house is half way down the property and i may not notice he has not shut it. I think it still should be a personal choice but when it comes to disputes on who owns a dog it would be a lot easier to solve with a microchip.

Clearly you are only up for a fight which is not what this thread is about. In our country it is everyones business to make sure our dogs are well cared for in our society. That is why we have passed a law here on manditory microchipping. There are so many stray injured and abandoned dogs here right now many are destroyed because they have no way to contact the owners. Perhaps those owners were like you and didn;t want to take "full responsibility of the cost of caring for their dog!" I wonder what other fees you might not want to meet for your dog? Does your attitude include Vet fees? Spaying/neutering? Licence fees? Insurance costs?
If you didn;t want to meet the cost of having a dog maybe you shouldn't have got one!

You can get insurance on a dog? It is not societies job to care and always check on how I care for my animals. We as a "society" have no business in how someone else handles their dog unless it is obviously being abused or neglected.

Thankfully here in Northern Ireland it is LAW to microchip so there are no excuses not to take responsibility for the ownership of your Dog! It is sad that you feel the way you do because Microchipping is a very good and possitive method of tracing ownership and responsibility for pets. Personally I cannot see any reason not to do this unless one would want to avoid ownership responsibility?

When society feeds my dog, walks her, trains her, and pays her vet bills, then they can dictate her care. Otherwise, beyond legal abuse and neglect, or damage/harm caused by her (and what that entails legally must be carefully watched), I personally will keep voting in a way that does not favor such controlling behavior. That is true for other subjects as well.

As for pet insurance, we are still working on people insurance here. Pet insurance is not common here like it is in some European countries. It is generally recommended that people instead put aside some money each month for vet bills, as the effectiveness of our pet insurance...well, milage varies to say the least.
