Who is who and what...

So - just out of curiosity for Una - (I ultimately don't really care too much if dad isn't a full Ameraucana because I'm not really selling or showing the birds) - As she doesn't have the pea comb - does that mean she won't be laying blue/green eggs? As Coco is a roo and they have been best buds, I plan to rehome her WITH Coco-Roo and would like to give the new owner a bit of a heads up on what color egg to expect.

tia again. :) I love learning from this group. It is awesome.

I decided to go ahead and update this just for kicks. The crows are in and the results are as follows:
Eggs Benedict -Cockerel
Coco - Cockerel
Lavender (now known as Olivander) - Cockerel
Scrappy- Cockerel
Pepper-Jack - Cockerel
Una- Pullet
Sunnyside Up - Pullet
Omelet (I call her Snowy now because she looks like a snowy owl) - Pullet
Chickpea - Pullet
Maid Marian - Pullet (still don't know what she is, but I did get a Black Copper Marans and they look similar but also very different)

So far I have rehomed all the boys except Olivander who I am holding for a friend. It was fun hatching these guys but a headache to rehome the roos that I couldn't keep. I will probably buy sexed chicks for more girls this spring. :)

I know, right? I did read somewhere that 50/50 seemed to be the rough breakdown, but it sure seems like more. Coco really is a sweet boy. The same person who adopted him and Una are adopting Scrappy-Doo and Chickpea (my two polish). I'm quite happy that they are going to good homes too. Benedict I almost offered up as a total do it yourself chicken dinner, but found a friend who was in need of a roo. :) Of course each one that goes I am thinking "Oh that means I can get more come spring!!" :)

Well - Now I am thinking I was wrong about Snowy/Omelet. "She" mounted one of my ameraucana today and not in a "i'm gonna pluck you bald" kinda way.... 22 weeks old and a pretty decent sized comb. The thing about Snowy is that mom was a Light Brahma and dad was a Lavender Ameraucana/EE... so is it safe to say that the she/he is a slow maturer? I will try to take some pictures in the morning.

22-23 weeks old. Light Brahma momma, and lavender Ameraucana dad. Cockerel or pullet? The mystery continues....
