Alright! I have been busy and haven't had a chance to update much less read all of the other posts.
CB.. To answer your question, I am getting into raising coturnix quail to eat and bob whites because I LOVE to hear them sing. We have a resident covey that will show up in our pasture from time to time but they have slowed down over the last year. The pheasants are for a trip down memory lane. I helped my dad raise 5000 of them for his boss to release on his ranch when I was a teen. Plus they taste good!
Now for the update.
14 Rhode Island Reds and BSL eggs from my girls to hatch monday under a broody banty. I put chicken wire around the bottom 2 foot of my broody cage so that I don't have any more disappearing chicks.
21 coturnix quail due to hatch June 6
I couldn't figure out a way to candle these motley eggs...
11 Blue Andalusans due to hatch June 11
Looks like 10 are going strong
30 Golden Cuckoo Marans due to hatch June 11
Looks like 26-27 are doing good
12 Ring neck pheasants due June 13
11 are showing progress
42 (ordered 25???) Georgia Giant Bobwhite Quail eggs arrived by UPS this evening and will go in the bator tomorrow for a June 21 hatch date
Still waiting on 40+ coturnix quail that I bought on here and did not realize that I was going on a waiting list. Should receive these in the next week or two.
This weekend will be spent building brooder boxes for all the chicks that hatch. The two I have now are full at the moment and I don't think that the chicks will have all of thier feathers in time to move them for the new arrivals.
Heres to good hatches to all of ya'll and praying that I don't have to work out of town for the next month or so!!!!!
