Who is with me?

I must have miscounted somewhere. I just took the eggs out of the cartons for hatching and added the water and everything, and I only have 14. Maybe my toddler stole one at some point? LOL.

I let mine sit for 24 hours, it gets the air sac back in place. So the time frame for tomorrow is good. Make sure they are sitting with the pointed end down.

Good Luck and you may want to get you an incubator for future use. It is going to drive you nuts with the eggs being at a friends house.

Where is that child. Maybe the egg ran away. Or is hiding in the closet.

I asked my DH if he'd seen one laying around and he said he found one with an x on it in his shoe by the front door a week or so ago. He threw it away because it had an x on it. It must have been the 3rd undeveloped BO egg--I forgot all about it! I was going to toss it and I Xed it to leave it for a few days to be 100% sure nothing was happening...I guess another pair of little hands saw the X and decided to help.

May I also mention she has recently "helped" by hiding all of her right shoes somewhere that she apparently can't remember and we can't discover. She's two...what can you do...

Alright! I have been busy and haven't had a chance to update much less read all of the other posts.

CB.. To answer your question, I am getting into raising coturnix quail to eat and bob whites because I LOVE to hear them sing. We have a resident covey that will show up in our pasture from time to time but they have slowed down over the last year. The pheasants are for a trip down memory lane. I helped my dad raise 5000 of them for his boss to release on his ranch when I was a teen. Plus they taste good!

Now for the update.

14 Rhode Island Reds and BSL eggs from my girls to hatch monday under a broody banty. I put chicken wire around the bottom 2 foot of my broody cage so that I don't have any more disappearing chicks.

21 coturnix quail due to hatch June 6
I couldn't figure out a way to candle these motley eggs...

11 Blue Andalusans due to hatch June 11
Looks like 10 are going strong

30 Golden Cuckoo Marans due to hatch June 11
Looks like 26-27 are doing good

12 Ring neck pheasants due June 13
11 are showing progress

42 (ordered 25???) Georgia Giant Bobwhite Quail eggs arrived by UPS this evening and will go in the bator tomorrow for a June 21 hatch date

Still waiting on 40+ coturnix quail that I bought on here and did not realize that I was going on a waiting list. Should receive these in the next week or two.

This weekend will be spent building brooder boxes for all the chicks that hatch. The two I have now are full at the moment and I don't think that the chicks will have all of thier feathers in time to move them for the new arrivals.

Heres to good hatches to all of ya'll and praying that I don't have to work out of town for the next month or so!!!!!

SO, I did not raise my humidity or open the vents (thinking they were due on the 5th), so now it is just seeing what happens.

Chick God be with me.

Pah, the one late chicken egg is backwards. I wish they all had a road map, of course it's a pullet egg.

The turkeys appear on track for later today, probably tomorrow.

Well I got my humidity up and the temp is holding and my fingers are crossed. All 8 Guineas are hatching and both ducks. I guess I can expect to see babies swimming with momma on the lake soon.

Sorry I have been MIA for a couple days. When I got home Thursday, little "Oscar" had hatched. He's the 2nd naked neck (the one Wilma gave up on). He, too, is "appearance challenged".

CB, I saw your pm. I answered.

I am gonna go play with the chickies now. Be back either tonight or tomorrow morning.

All 8 Guineas and both ducks should be out in the morning. All are pipping chirping and working away at their shells.
