WWD, I hope that things are going well for your crushed egg! I look forward to seeing the post that says he made it out okay!
I have a question for you guys about chicks and brooders. At this time, I have about 40 eggs on the way to me. I can handle that in my incubator and I can handle that in my coop, but my brooder is where I start to run into a problem. My brooder is just big enough, in my opinion, for about 10 chicks. I never expected to be handling this large of a load and that is even with a bad hatch rate. Is there any reason why, if I have the lighting and such out there, that the coop cannot work as a brooder as well. I mean, other then them not being in the house where I can obsessively check on them, what is the difference, as long as they are kept at the correct temperatures?
I am just trying not to end up with 3 or 4 brooders spread out throughout the house. It will be hard to handle when day care kids have access to just about every room, except the bedrooms!
Any thoughts?
