Well I have looked all threw the boards and i cant find the help I need. I saw countrybum that you had chicks that had shrink wrapped. I have silkies in bator and they are 21 days no pips nothen i cked them and now the air sacks seem twice as large as when i put them in the hatchery bator on day 18. I only have 7 silke eggs I dont want to loose these babies. Humidity from day 1 to 18 was 40 to 45% humidity day 18 to 21 65%. So my question is if i crack a hole in the big end and i see that the egg is shrinked wrapped like i am sure what then? Sorry for hyjacking thread I did not know any where else to ask>>> Also anyone know what causes this if humidity has been stable at 65% bator closed except today when i candled 2 eggs

Hi Starry - up in the little padlocked thread at the top of this forum is a Sticky - containing useful incubation posts including some very detailed ones on helping chicks out.

Look up the little padlock and follow the links. Also if you search under twins you will find a video of someone helping out a set of twin chicks from a double yolk egg. That's also useful...

Sorry, after you open the egg and if it is shrink wrapped, get out water and a q-tip and moisten the membrane, don't push hard. You may have to do every egg. I then dampened a 1/2 paper towel and wrapped the egg, leaving the beak sticking out. You have to moisten every hour or so (just whenever they look real dry.

Now, Walkswithdog, uses plastic wrap to wrap the babies, I think, I will have to find the page.

UPDATE:

I have 9 out of 14 RGP, will post pictures as soon as they are all hatched.

I have 23 baby Guineas and 5 on the way.

I went out to feed this morning and thought Jerrys Guinea is here again. Jerry is down to 1 and I thought I was also. BUT, it was my Guinea and she had 15 little babies with her. Here I thought I needed to hatch some because I was down to 1.

I have had all my banties hatch in 19 days, now some do go to 21 days. So

Did you get to open the end of one?

If not, candle it and see if there is movement. By now, you should be able to tell if the movement is constricted or not.

Here is a update I did what you said country 2 were dead in the shells shrink wrapped in. Two i was able to gently work away dry membrane and they have there heads out but the bottom of them is wrapped in saran wrapp. Two have beaks out and are wrapped in saran wrap. They are very weak and not chirping at all so i honestly dont know if they will pull threw.

Its like they were sufercating and are just exhausted from trying to breathe. I will kepp yall posted THANKS for your advice if we had not steped in they for sure would have died. Tc all

yes I saw veins . How often should i moisten it?

I would moisten every couple hours. When you see no veining, which it sounds like they are running a little behind, you can slowly roll back the membrane.
