Who is with me?

If I don't have any pips by the time I get home tonight, I may decide to intervene. Especially since I heard chirping last night and saw that all 5 had pipped internally.

One of these didn't pip at all, and one was headed for the wrong end, causing me to play "where's the nose" The one that didn't pip and died did look to be backwards. Head about exactly opposite the air cell.

That may also have been true of Crush but Crush was so crushed you couldn't tell one end from the other much. He had some squashedness going for him as well which wasn't his fault lol.

He is fine by the way and out there with Faith, the marans and his PR brother.

I have more backwards when the weather has gone hot.

Aaahhhh...my eggs came today. I ordered a dozen silkie eggs and a dozen Araucana/Ameraucana eggs. I got 14 silkie eggs and 18 of the others!! Now, don't get me wrong, I love free stuff, but I am not sure if all of these will fit in the incubator...with the 15 guinea eggs (even though I only ordered 12)!! lol

I checked...it says 41, at least. I should be okay, but...holy cow!!

I will have to get pictures of my chicks to see how they compare. I am interested to know "what" they are... lol

CB, that chick is adorable too. I have always thought that was a cute pic!

Okay, here are my chicks now...just over a week old. I love the white "beard" on the one chick...really hoping it turns out to be a male, as my 9 year-old is always calling it Captain Whitebeard. It'll just fit better if it is a male!

Sorry to post so many. They were really intrigued by the wall, so I had a hard time getting them to show their faces. Then, one would look best in one shot and one would look better in another.

Riqui awww I cannot wait for these to fuzz out more and my daughter is dying long distance, fortunately for her she's coming up in a few weeks. So she'll see them at their uber cuteness.

Then they'll go all scruffy gawky silly.

It's still a cool phase but baby fluffiness is just awesome.

Silkies and sizzles are an evil addiction from which there is no return.

Riqui, what adorable babies (AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH) see incubating pays off when things go right.

Your lighter colored chick looks like it may turn out to be a blue. The white could be a splash, but may just stay white. The darker ones, may turn completely black and whenever I have one with white on the chest or chin, it also turns black (don't take my word 100%), so do not get your hopes up that it is going to stay.

As for the avatar, that little chick is sitting on top my computer screen. He was my first intervention and he moved around a lot through out the day with me since everyone kept stepping on him. So I fed him and made sure he got water until he was strong enough to handle the wild life.

Here is what the lighter colored chick may look like, this one is just a lot bigger than yours (Jersey Giant), so even at a couple months old, he looks a bit goofy still.

Why does these things always happen?????? When I got home there still were no turkey pips. I could tell they were getting shrink wrapped, just like I feared!!!!!!

I did a quick intervention and was able to save 2 out of the 5. I KNEW I should have cracked them open last night, especially since the one was chirping. I do not know if these 2 little turkey babies will make it but at least I have cracked the shells open and moistened the inner membrane.

Going to by press-n-seal in just a few minutes to make the famous WWD sleeping bags!

CM if you have saran wrap in the house it works just as good.

Are the beaks out and are they getting air?

You can do this, these 2 will be okay. Give them time and take it slow. As long as their beak is out, they can stay in that egg and in the incubator for 3 days.

Patients is good here. They will be fine. Even if they are shrink wrapped they can break through the membrane and chirp.

I am here with you.

THANKS CB!!!!!

I'm going to saran wrap them now. Do I need to finish taking them all the way out of the shell? I have just broken enough away so their cute little beaks are out and I can see they're breathing.

HELP!!!!
