Who Likes garage sales and thrift stores?

Heck I buy alot of the kids clothes at thrift stores and what not! My kids are HARD on clothes and outgrow it so fast that who cares!

I love thrift stores, consignment stores, yard sales all that good stuff.
There is a second hand kids clothing store that I've found some really nice things for DD. Last year I bought her an LL Bean new condition snow pants and jacket for $15! This year I got her new condition Columbia snow pants and jacket for $20! Would have cost over a hundred dollars for either set brand new! I figure why not, she gets nice clothes (a lot of brand names, too

) and I don't have to pay a mint for them.

Thrift stores are how I make my living. If any of you have a Value Village/Savers in your area, check it out on Tuesdays, They always have a colored tag through out the store that is .99 cents no matter what the original price is. I once bought a $999.00 Ascada Cashmere Dress for .99 and re sold it for $285.00 on ebay. (the find of a lifetime obviously) but I do find new with tags clothing every week that I go. My family all have very nice designer labels like Nike and Columbia and I get them for under a buck. I can't stand to go into dept. stores anymore because I know that I will eventually find it at the thrift stores in new to good condition.

SHOP ON!! lol

I am trying (urghh!) to teach my sil about being thrifty and it is so hard, yesterday she came home from work (wal-mart ) with 2 shirts for her son (he does not need winter clothes at all) that were 3.00 each she said they were on sale from 3.88 please!! They were the ones you find at GS all the time for 25 cents and they are almost too small anyway. I sell on ebay and the cdhickens have to share my addiction with GS and auctions thrift stores around here are getting to be too pricey, I have one of the family's that does auctions that we get along with really well the woman that does the cataloguing will call if there are some things she thinks I would particularly want. Tomorrow is Friday and I have nothing to do Yeah that means GS going.

Some of my favorite things came from Yard sales or thrift stores, Salvation army store. I have some great deals at flea market too. Haven't been able to go much lately but hope to get to again. Gas has been so high DH who loves junking too haven't been. I bought one Christmas Present at a thrift store. it was a gorgeous cobalt blue teapot that said made in Enland on the bottom. No chips. I cleaned it up and wrapped it and gave to my DIL who has a love for hot tea and teapots. She tells me everytime she sees me how it is her favorite. She doesn't know where I bought it. I payed 3 dollars for it. Not much but I knew she would love it. Precious things don't have to cost a lot.
Buy all the toys at my house at Garage sales for GC's to play with. I just love bargins.\\
Bought great cast iron cookware pieces Lodge brand for 4 dollars each. I'm making me want to go shopping.

That is so neat, that you saved those items. It is sad, if you think about it...how they are throwing their loved ones long, hard work away

I have an ugly orange one, (afghan) that my grandma had...not sure if she made it, but I'm thinking my aunt made it. Anyway, I will never get rid of that, just because it was my grandma's.

I love garage sale/auction season

It's too cold for it here, now, except for the flea market they do once a month at the expo building. I collect Breyer horses, and it's a wonderful way to search for my hobby things, and get them cheaply. I also stop off at Savers, and the Salvation Army, occasionally looking for stuff. My boys are hard on clothes/toys, so it's awesome to get good deals.

My grandma used to have this mushroom canister set from Sears. I don't know who ended up with them, but I just loved them. I was in an antique store one time, and look up and see the whole canister set in perfect shape for $20. Guess what's in my kitchen...along with chicken stuff, lol! Granted not the same set she had, but everytime I look at them I think of my grandma.

You collect Breyers, BrahmaMama?
I have about 10 or 15 breyer horses. They are in my attic, because I have no place to put them. My Grandfather even built me stables with half dutch doors to go with them. They are in pretty good condition even though I played with them a lot.

I cannot imagine in my wildest dreams selling the afgans my Grandmother made for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I treasure them dearly, and they make me think of her when I am under one.

I only wish I would have had more patience when she tried to teach me how to make them. Some are coming undone, so I packed them away in plastic bags. Sure wish I could fix them.

I also have a beautiful quilt that grandma and grandpa worked on together, it was the last one they made before he died. I would sell my right arm before I let it go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And what would I get....maybe 10 bucks!!!!!! NOWAY IN #$&^!!!!!!

Anyways......I'm glad you saw the sentimental value and saved them from the dump!!
