Saum Creek
Songster
Hi, all. I'm a 35-year-old living outside of Portland, OR. I joined these forums last year when I agreed to take him a clutch of two-week-old chicks, but all of my posts were just "What gender is THIS one?" as I had no idea which bubs I was going to be able to keep. A year later and I have chicks again and have fallen in love with this goofy animal.
I live on the campus of the school where I work. It's 20+ acres of woods, gardens, and ponds that I explore almost every day with my derp of a poodle. I love not having to leave my house to be completely immersed in nature and I am grateful for it every day of my life, even more so now in the days of social distancing.
My house is a zoo: I have a standard poodle, a rag doll cat, a cockatiel, 6 chicks, and 2 grown chickens - including a rooster named Bluebarb. The animals sort of run the show and, if I'm not careful, take over my bed.
Recently I've been delving into mindfulness meditation and being being present more often. My natural state is doing/thinking/eating several things at once so it has really been a shift. I suppose my current goal is to continue meditating every day and hopefully get to the point in the future where I'd feel comfortable attending a silent retreat somewhere beautiful and serene.
I enjoy musical theater, heartwarming television shows, red wine, and solitude.
