Thanks for those links Smpezzi! I make alot of gylcerin melt and pour soap. Some of the glycerin I buy at the site Wildsky listed and alot of it I buy at Michaels. Every sunday Michaels has a 40% off coupon in the paper and that plain gylcerin ends up being about 18.00 for 10 pounds. The olive oil and goats milk and many other bases are 10.00 for 2 pounds and if you want those unscented, all you have to do is cut it into blocks. I bought most of my molds on like and like the silicone ones alot. The one I like the best is a wooden box about 12" long and about 5" wide..line it with a piece of thick trash bag and pour your melted base in there, a few drops of color you can swirl to make it look like stained glass or use alot to totally dye it..you cn use food coloring but that will wash off when you shower...michaels sells soap pigment too and fragrances..I normally buy bigger bottles of those though from that wholesalesuppliers..the pomegranate, peppermeint and apple jack are my all time favorites. Soap making by this method is really easy and makes your house smell great and makes the most wonderful gifts ever!!!! Give it a try...looks like several people here can help!!

You'll be so hooked Cassie!! My family loves it when I make soap!! My daughter brings all her girl friends over and my son pics out the bars he thinks his girlfriend will like, I take some to work...and we use the rest.

Yeah, it's addictive for sure! And it's not very hard, either. Oh and you can keep the scraps/extras and experiment with different scents & combos.

OK, I have looked at the links provided and I am confused to death. Who knew there were so many butters and oils?! I want a soap that cleans, lasts, smells good. What do i need to buy to start? What butters and oils etc....

Really it depends on your personal preferance. I would start out with a simple melt and pour soap base, there are tons of choices for the base in melt and pour that way it is simple right off the bat. Then once you are comfortable with that you can start making your own base if you so choose. If you need any step by step with melt and pour pm me and I will walk you through it, for making your own base everyone has their own process that you perfect on your own for best results
