who raises ducks?

kurby, depending on where in E. Texas you are, I might not be too far away - I live in SE. Oklahoma.
Anyway, I have a very sweet Blue Swedish Drake for sale and some different breed duck hatching eggs

I got a duck once for Easter and it was a runner duck. He followed me everywhere, swam in the sink etc.. when he got big enough to go outside a storm came up and we guess he had a heart attack and died. Poor ducky.
But I enjoyed the duck so much that I would like another one, but a different kind. I like all the neat ducks, but the white ones will do I guess. The rowren? they look like a mallard are at the feed store now, but I dont' want a bunch of ducks, just a pair, so.. I don't know how to tell them apart.

Unless you are brave enough to sex the ducklings, you won't know which are which until they get about 6 weeks old.

The rouens have a fairly calm disposition, in my experience. Well, at least compared to runner ducks.

I raise rouens & am happy with them. I have also had pekins & blue swedes as well as different calls ducks. It sounds like you are really going to want one of the heavy breeds though, so it can't fly away. Where in E. Tx are you? I am SE Tx and have Rouen eggs available. I could special hatch, if you are interested.
