Who said bobwhite quail dont go broody???

also i was wondering if i separated one female from the rest of the group and gave her a group of newly hatched chicks, would she take care of them or peck them to bits?

Don't just dump a bunch of chicks under a quail who's not even close to thinking about getting broody. She wont kill them, but she will just ignore them and they will die cause of cold. However, you could try with the female that's sitting on those eggs now. You'll have a good chance with her, but keep a careful eye on them, you never know... Also, now that she has felt the pleasure of chicks, she will likely do it again and again and brood the eggs full time. Good luck:celebrate

I had a button quail go broody on a bunch of eggs and she sat on them for about 7-10 days but has now got off of them. We have candled them and can see development so we borrowed an incubator. I'm just starting to get it set up and do some research as we've never hatched our own button quail eggs before. I'm looking to get the temperature to around 95-99 degrees Fahrenheit but I'm not completely sure because they've already been sat on for a while. Any tips??
