Who saw Wild Man (I think the name) on Animal Planet last night?

I do all types of animal rescue, & that really does happen sometimes (not every time, but obviously the show only shows the most interesting or dramatic moments not the small stuff, & I dont think that they released the husky mix from that one episode onto a busy highway & tried to run her over with a semi). You go for one & find another to add to the mix. Some of the areas she goes to have strays or dump dogs EVERYWHERE. Certain parts of ABQ are like that. You drive around & see quite a few loose, stray, or feral dogs running around. Sadly it does happen. While the weight issue is kinda odd you do not know when these dogs were dumped, or lost or whatever, & if their running loose what they've been eating. They could be eating trash can leftovers or some nice person could be feeding them. I recently trapped a stray cat that showed up at a neighbors property incredibly emaciated, & after a month or so of them giving him leftovers like turkey legs, ribs, & chicken said cat is HEAVY. I can name plenty of items in a garbage can that would cause a dog to blow up like a balloon. Sorry but im a BIG Tia & P&P fan.

Every state should require some sort of licensing and microchipping before one can own a cat or dog. Where I live stray dogs and especially feral cats are a big problem. I know I may take some heat for those comments but that's my opinion. It's a huge problem in a lot of areas and I too worked at an animal shelter for 4 years. The waste of life (euthanasia) that goes on in animal shelters because people are irresponsible is enough to make you sick, literally. While I'm on the soap box I had a lady bring in a box of 7 or 8 kittens, don't remember anymore. I ask where she got them and she told me there were from her cat. I told her I could arrange a low cost spay for the cat. She told me that the cat was at the vet to be spayed and she let the cat have kittens so her kids could she the miracle of birth and a mother cat taking care of her kitten. I replied, well maybe your kids would like to come back in a week and see the miracle of death. Yes I did say it. Truth hurts.

I agree with you. Just going to the kill shelters a few times looking for my missing cat was hard enough. Id like to start a no kill shelter some day. At least I could save a few more lives & get them good homes. Sad thing is that its so difficult to enforce that stuff & some times folks have money & some times they dont, but it gets harder by putting it off. Im still getting everything caught up on my keeper rescues... & now im rambling. Anyways I agree with you!

How did this go from a friendly chat about turtle man to needing a licence to own a dog. I think it would be much cheaper to just outlaw all pets altogether.

I don't know how they found someone so much more of a hick than I am! I know people around here like that. I just wish they would stop finding people to keep sterotyping the people out here. I am sure that he is a great guy. He is the type to give you the shirt off his back and not think a thing of it. But, reallllly. People around here do bathe in actual bath tubs. We do have more sense than to catch critters with our own hands. Welllll... at least I do. I can't speak for everyone, they did actually find someone haven't they? But yes I do watch the show to see what stunt he is going to pull next.

No need to be sorry. You are entitled to have your opinion.

And i know lots of good old hillbillies and think they are good people. I even consider my self some what of a hill billy. I think its great he is getting his piece of the pie right now. I wish him the best of luck and hope his show turns some coin for him.

I watch the show when it's on because it's entertaining......I LOL at it all the time. But......I'm not feeling like it's so "real life" anymore. The fact that in each episode they say "That's live action right there!" at least 3 times.....well, it sounds like they're trying WAAAAY too hard to get you to believe it.

It does show a stereotype but hopefully most folks have the common sense to realize some folks are like that & some arent

& if they are heck their generally awesome folks to hang out with. I have quite a few relatives that live backwoods & are hillybillies (literally I probably have 100s of relatives ive never met out there). Every single one is good people. The shows definitely good for lol, & he does say live action a lot but I think it just adds to the

. Come to think of it when I get excited or freaked out or something I repeat myself a lot to either that or I start stuttering up a storm

I wouldn't want to discriminate so sure why not. Then we can get real goofy and make people have $1,000,000 bond if the want to own animals
