My Chickens have finally learned to read the sign above the nest box!!

Here are Rosalind and Olivia in the nest box together.

Yesterday was a very big day at the Eggery!! Oliva laid her first egg.

Then Rosalind hopped up and laid an egg right after Olivia.

Here is Rosalind right after she laid an egg, you can see Olivia's egg there, it is a bit lighter in color.

I took a photo of the two eggs to compare them. Rosalind's egg is darker and actually bigger around than it looks in this photo. Olivia's is more elongated, and thinner.

I think once Buff Orpington's get going good they will have larger eggs than the Barred Rock's.

That's why some of mine aren't laying! I forgot to put up the sign!

Congrats on the eggs, they're definitely good sized for a first lay!

I never taught mine to read....the shame, the shame!

That is cute!! I was never able to read to books to them at that age. I was afraid my dog would think they were new "squeeky toys." So far, I don't think my chickens have ever even been in the house! Poor deprived Chickens!!
