who says muscoveys cant fly

My 2 muscovies can fly like eagles, they normally just fly above our area but are getting higher and higher so when hubby gets home at weekend I am going to clip wings as I am so frightened they fly of too far and be lunch for something or someone. Be first time clipping so hope I do it right.

My oldest drake does not fly and I think he just doesn't try anymore. He may never have been able to after he hit puberty if he is anything like his boys. His sons do not fly and have never tried but a few of the girls have molted out and are flying again.
Those boys are just huge though! I haven't ever clipped their wings but they do eat a good bit so they may just be too heavy, which is fine since we plan to send them to freezer camp.
The girls are slim and trim and I do so enjoy watching the evening flights.

My scovies are in a really tall pen that used to be a horse stall (idk how tall it is) anyway I didn't think my drakes Fat butt could fly out but the first day we had him in there ibwoke up to go say hi and he was chilling outside the pen like hey mom what's up. I freaked out!! I'm glad nothing got him though cuz I lost 2 girls since my parents moved there

They do fly and they do it pretty well! My hen was flying like a wild mallard and so I caught her and cut her wing feathers. Now she looks a little ugly but they will grow again. Now I can rest assure she won't fly of my 6 ft fence.

M y muscovy drakes can only get take off if up on the hill behind our home. So they get one wing clipped so I don't have to worry about something having them for a meal when they leave our property.

wouldnt that higher the risk of them getting eaten if they can fly away?
