He will get the idea sooner or later I hope XD

Oh you lucky!!

I show Akitas, and talk about a late start, I didn't get started until I was in my 20's!! Have a couple of Ch's, and just bred my first litter last year, so exciting!! I also showed in Obedience for a bit, and got a CD on one and one leg on another (first place in Novice B at the National, not too shabby for her first time in!). No dog ever in Westiminster and no huge wins, but some of my majors have been at specialties, which I was proud of, and the girl I kept from my first litter was Best Puppy at our Pre-National specialty, that felt pretty good

Her dam was Best in Sweeps at the National one year. I also co-own Afghan Hounds, have finished one of those, and finished a Saluki that I co-owned. Dogs are my passion, but I think they are starting to get jealous of how much time I am spending with my first-ever chicks

(How the heck did I miss this thread?)

I've been showing dogs for 43 years although at present I am treading water since most of my critters are old. I began in Keeshonden and got my 1st papillon in 1982. I now have only 2 papillons, both in their teens along with 2 younger GSDs from German show lines I show in companion events. I'm very active in dog clubs these days and our club is preparing to host our annual 5 day dog show cluster with 2 other nearby clubs.

One of my Keeshonden, Kismet. He was a Group winner/placer back in the '80's:

I started showing at age 16 (Belgian Sheepdog), though I got the bug at age 13 (had to talk my mom into another dog). Been involved in dogs one way or another through the years. Most of my breeding/showing was in Belgian Tervuren, secondarily in Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Went to Westminister twice with my top 10 Belgian Tervuren, Ray. He got an Award of Merit the first year, lost out for it to his father the second year. Specially him for 3 1/2 years was one of the highlghts of my showing career. Have also trained/shown in obedience and agility.

My show career came to a halt when I went to work for AKC as a field inspector in 1998. Spent 5 years doing that, then decided to create a dog show vendor booth and just finished up eight years of doing that. Now I'm spending a lot more time at the farm and plan on dabbling in Rally and Agility with my Corgi, Willow.

I would LOVE to get into this someday.

I have a love for gazehounds. I did some showing (not conformation). I did obedience and Rally w/ my Italian Greyhound (i know i know...funny!). Sadly, she died unexpectedly at only 8yo. We lost both our dogs that year. Our other one we lost (due to a brain tumor) was a deaf whippet. He couldnt show (b/c of the deafness) but he was a certified therapy dog.

I also really like Standard poodles, but hate the coat upkeep. I am waaaay to lazy!!! haha!

My hubs is allergic to dogs, so our breed choices are limited. Certain breeds (like boxers, labs and most of the retriever family) really bother him (hives and such). I would really love another whippet, but we are worried about getting one b/c of our chickens!!! haha! Maybe another Iggy is the route we will go. WE have a little mixed breed right now (I think she is Jack Russel and Beagle mix). She is just over a year. Once I have more time, i would LOVE to get her involved in agility and obedience.
