Absolutely, I do the "deed," scald or skin, my wife and daughters do the plucking and gutting. We have done 40 plus so far this year and have 30 more before Thanksgiving. Our freezer is looking better all the time.

I personally am a vegetarian. My DH and kids still eat chicken and other meat. We do not kill our chickens. We are new at the whole thing though. We were lucky enough to be able to sell our roos on craigslist. DH has told me that he wishes he could bring himself to do it, but he can't. We do see our chickens as pets as well as breakfast providers. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised to see just how many people responded with kindness and compassion about going about things. I do think if you're gonna eat meat, at least know where it comes from and how it was cared for (especially how compassionately it was killed). We will probably end up having a retirement home for chickens

I can't slaughter them but my dad and sister do. My little sister likes to learn the body parts.
