Who steals a grave marker?

I just got done talking to my mom. I have to call the town tomorrow to get the phone number for the caretaker of the cemetary. And than call them and see what is going on and what can be done to prevent this from happening to someone else. It is a really small town so I guess I will see what happens. Thank you all. I knew I could come here and vent and everyone would understand.

We have to be careful planting nice flowers where my parents are buried because it has been known to have evil ones pull them out by the roots and resell them for Memorial or Mother's Day.
B***tards have been stealing bronze markers and vases from tombstones for decades. The flat stones with the bronze vases that raise up and down are prime targets.
And this happens in well kept cemetaries, not the backwoods overgrown ones!

Mad wouldn't be the right word for how I would feel.
To desecrate a grave...not something I understand.

I did insure my brother's stone, and my sister's stone.
Against breakage, settling and any flaws in the granite
that may develop for 100 years. My brothers stone has
been replaced twice in 27 years. Once when brand new
for a hairline crack when they set it, and a few years ago
it took a chip on the edge.

Don't know if theft would be covered. Doubt it. But if you
pick those stones up, you're gonna be a mighty big man.

I can understand how you feel.

I'm picky about those two stones. I promise you, they are
straight as straight can be. Perfectly centered. Concrete footers
four foot in the ground.

I've bought other stones for other family members. Nothing fancy.
Nice stones. But they mean nothing to me.

My sister has been gone these past ten years. And I've put flowers
on her grave.

My brother....27 years, and I still can't put flowers on his grave. I've tried.
It's a pain that won't go away.

So yes...someone ever bother those two stones, I would be hurt to the bone.

I am so sorry. I would be very angry if someone did that to my dad's marker. You have every right to be upset. Unfortunately, it seems like the world gets worse instead of better. That person will have to account for his/her actions someday though.

Idiots.. That's who steals grave markers. Someone stole the vase off of my brothers headstone because they thought it was made of bronze. It wasn't, it was bronze colored cast metal. Turns out, they had gone all over the county stealing every single one they could find. They had a truck load of them and got busted when they took them to the recycling center to cash in on the "bronze".... Unfortunately even though they got caught, we never got the vase back. Sorry you are having to go through it too! It's a hurt that cuts to the bone and hard as we try, just can't understand the mentality of the type people that do these things.

They would not get very far if they tried to take the bronze or metal plaque to the recycling center...it is low as they can get! Also recycling centers are requiring IDs and be documented before they take the things to be recycled.

I believe earlier this year, a recycling center was broken into, the theives made off with the copper basket of wires, plumbing parts....they never did caught the persons but someone KNEW about the inside and out of that building.

Same up here. There is a bunch of lowlifes that keep stealing the floweres I put on my late husbands grave so I made a habit to just buy the flowers and take them home with me. They have also been stealing the bronze vet plaques on the back of the headstones.
