I’m sending a bunch of roosters to freezer camp, and I have 2 barred rocks, I’m keeping one but not the other, but I’m running into issues with choosing. All I need is the barring. Both are the same in looks and personality almost to a T, and the difference are very slight. Espresso has 2 spurs on each foot, and slightly more of a yellow tinge to his feathers. He is the younger of the two, being about a year old. This is him.

and then I have a slightly older roster named brewster. This is him.

They are both hatchery quality. The second one has slightly better barring and tail set. If you have no particular goal in mind, just keep whichever one you like best.
My goal is to produce ghost barred chickens, and because of how faint the barring is on a ghost barred chicken, the quality of the barring won’t affect the outcome much. And after thinking about it, the yellow tinge might play to my advantage for that 🤔
