Who uses Tractor Supply Co.

I loove TSC as well! I agree with the person that praised their decor. GREAT looking stuff--but kinda pricey! Last time we went they had a bunch of chicken themed stuff for the kitchen, like a cutting board, place matts and other things. I was tight on money so I didn't get anything.

But I really love going there. It's fun.

This is only my opinion of the TSC nearest me------

worth. Hope I don't offend anyone, but I went in 1 time and the people were really rude and not helpful at all and not at all knowledgeable of the supplies they carried, and that was the only time I went. I will not go back.

I like ours. It's pretty new though and nice and clean still. We don't have many store options here and the other place is dirty and I find critters in the feed all the time at our other feed store. TSC has always offered fresh feed. I can't get everything there, but I like it.

We just had one open here and I went in to check it out. Like Miss Prissy, I've only bought stuff there when I am in a bind, or when I happen to be driving by it en route to someplace else. (All the feed stores, TSC included, are a fair drive from my house so I try to consolidate the driving with other errands.)

That said, it's at the BOTTOM of my list if I make a run solely for feed or chicken supplies, even though it is the closest to my house. I much, much prefer to support local businesses than big conglomerates like TSC, Walmart, etc. I just found out that a local supermarket that I'd always assumed was at least New England-based is actually owned by people in Belgium. Not that I have anything against Belgians, but I would rather supprt local families and small family-run businesses. So..... even if feed is $1 more a bag or the store is 5 miles further away, I'll usually choose the local feed store.

Besides, the people who work at the feed stores tend to be actual animal-owners themselves, and can offer better advice and contacts with other local farmers, than the cashiers at TSC.

Just my 2 cents!!

I use Tractor Supply. It is about the only place here that I can buy chicken supplies. I like it and they are really friendly and helpful. One lady even brought me some penicilin for my injured chick along with the shots to give them with and did not charge me a dime for it out of her own personal supply from home. Then again this is a small town and people here are pretty friendly anyway. They usually have anything I need for just about any animal you can think of.

I use them because its the closest. Its in the town where I do everything else, the feed and grain store is 15 minutes in the other direction. My only beef was that 3 times I went in to buy a 20lb bag of starter they were out, I finially got one last week. Our WalMart doesnt carry chicken stuff. I love the huge bag of shavings TSC carries for only $5.95 and the feeders and waters seem decently priced.

The only time I go to tractor supply co. is when I need something and southern states is closed. Our tsc doesn't have much chicken stuff. Last time I went we where out of feed, the guy I talked to was real rude. They were sold out of feed.

So we went to southern states and they were sold out, but they offered to call when they got some in. We got the feed at another southern states.

Our tsc doesn't sell chicks either. In my opinion, I like southern states and local feed stores better.

Tsc ain't bad when it comes to dog and other stuff. But all stores are different, it all depends on the store and the people working their.

I have to agree. They are higher priced, not as knowledgeable, and I am talking to a kid who is half my age. Not that the age thing is a huge deal to me but when I am explaining basic things to them and I am getting a blank stare....well you get the picture.

I live about 8 miles from the local feed store and TSC. Our local feed store keeps the sabbath day sabbath! I respect that!!! TSC is the emergency only store for us. They are charging $6.00 more for a bag of feed. They did carry chicks this year but only order 70 total!

Seriously! 70! ANd of the 70 35 were broilers!!!

I could have taken 35 chicks easily!!! So I got 6, I had to share with my friend crazychickengirl! LOL She wanted some too! And to make matters worse they were suppose to be Black Australorps, well, I got 2 GLW! How did that happen? And not just me but 2 of my friends! They were all in a watering troff labeled Black Australorps! Oh well, here I go again.....venting

Back to the original question......they are OK if you are in a pinch. Go check it out occasionally they will have a good buy. Just not on a daily basis! Good luck!
