Who wants to ramble or even vent!

I have several game cameras set up around on my property. Here the predators mostly roam at night. I have tried a lot of different cameras. Some are better than other and some need electricity but mine are all battery operated. Price is not the deciding factor. Some pricey cameras can be junk. Some of my cameras I have mounted on post so I can move them around. Hardly a night go by when at least one camera captures a predator. If it was a predator that got your bird, it will be back. Something like this might work pretty good. When I buy a camera anymore I always look for "Free Return", then if you're not happy with it you can return it with no problems. I have returned a few that didn't work as I had expected them to. Most of my cameras have been purchased for under $50. Sometimes people who have purchased cameras may post some picture they have gotten from the cameras and then you can see the picture quality. Good luck...

This is a camera identical to most of my cameras. I paid under $50. for mine. They are manufactured under many different names. I keep checking and now and then they are on sale. They are great for nighttime pictures when the predators roam here.

I had an owl go through some crappy netting that I have since replaced with some good netting.

Thank you for going to the trouble of finding the threads and also the pictures of where, and how you place your cameras. Great ideas 👍 it seems the sellers don’t ship to the uk, you guys are so lucky to have such a huge variety of options available that we in the uk don’t. The cameras that I have decided to go with are also battery operated and can be easily moved around.

Hey @DobieLover @sourland @Weeg do you know anything about outside cameras for protecting my flock? Apparently foxes are a creature of habit and have their own patch that they patrol, if I knew when to expect him, I’ll be ready!! 💥💥
We use game cameras around our property. I am personally against killing predators, I think it just opens up habitat for other predators to move in. Personally, I always blame myself if a bird gets eaten, I failed to properly protect them, so for that I don't kill predators as well. I can't speak for you though, so you do what you think is best for your flock. :)
Back to the topic, our game cameras work great! We really use them just out of curiosity to see what is lurking on our property, and get coyotes a lot. We have a Victure, and a CamPark hunting trail cam. I like the Victure better because of the better image quality, but it is more expensive, so its about your price range. Hope this is helpful!

My thoughts exactly

I did consider killing my hubby 🤣
But he is so sorry he took his eyes off them, so I know it is a lesson he will NEVER forget. Bless him.

This is really helpful because I have just ordered 2 of the Victure.

Urghh have u captured anything weird on your cameras? We only really have foxes and buzzards, I think I’d have a meltdown If we had snakes or anything 🤦‍♀️🤣

Mostly coyotes and deer. We get us on our horses sometimes, and its helpful to be able to see were out dog is taking he bones that we give him lol! After hunting season, we usually cut up the spine and give it to them for dental health.
Eek! Snakes! I can't imagine having to predator proof against those. 😬
Awesome! I glad I could help!

One thing I can tell you about foxes from observing them. They have rituals and routes. Here they mostly come out at night except when they are looking for mates, feeding their kits or hungry. I have eliminated a couple that killed some of my birds. I have seen many more since.Lately I have been seeing a couple of this years kits here now hunting on their own. Here is a picture of a starving fox I had been seeing. I haven't seen it in quite a while so I suspect it died. I left some eggs out for it.

Oh wow, I have a horse, my boy is an ex racehorse, he’s 15.3 and absolutely gorgeous, a real gentleman 😊 I have never been a horsey person, but I spent a while looking after him, then his owners at the time said they were going to get the hunt in to have him put to sleep 😳 there was absolutely nothing wrong with him so I ended up becoming his new mum and we’ve never looked back.

That is so kind of you! Poor thing! I need to remember that this is nature, and in order to survive, they have to eat. It is not personal if they take one of my hens, that’s on me. Your video earlier, I asked if they were coyotes simply because I was lead to believe foxes are solo, they stay on their own, is this true or could I have more than one fox?
