Who will lay speckled eggs?

I have 2 Marans that lay kinda speckled eggs which are so beautiful in my cartons. Is there a breed that is known for laying a speckled egg of any color? If you have such a bird do you like it? Is it a mellow one or nuts?

My hatchery Barred Rock always lays a spotted egg. I have asked about this in the past, and not all Barred Rocks do this. I'm actually not sure of a breed that is known for speckled eggs. My Barred Rock is a real sweetheart and very very chatty.

We have a Blue Cochin Large Fowl that is laying a tanish egg that looks like it is speckled.

Nearly all (especially hatchery based) brown egg laying breeds can lay speckled eggs, however dark layers like Welsummers, Penedesencas, Empordanescas, Marans, and Barnevelders are far more likely to lay speckled eggs.
