Its funny... I went to Rural King for an air filter for my lawn mower... A week later a had 3 hens and a coop in my backyard! My wife abouy killed me! After a couple of hours of debate she manged to agree with me(first time ever)! We have to children 5 y/o girl and 2 y/o boy and I thought what better way to teach resposibilty than raising chickens! Coop cleaning, egg colecting, and providing food and water should sure he them become responsible adults...I hope!

I just got 6 Barred Rocks and I love them!!! So much friendlier than my Red Sex Links. They are my favorite breed so far.

Oh yes! They are wonderful birds. My chicks were not handled as they were raised by a broody. She will eat you if you go near - but they still let me pet them and will eat out of my hand, and they are only 5 weeks. My best girl that passed away was a barred rock (my avatar) and she is the whole reason I am into them like I am.

She was the friendliest thing. She loved attention and never shied away

Thank you very much! I do love my barred rocks! I also adore all the others, but the barred rocks just stick out as a favourite. Their personalities are unbeatable.

I am 16, And I put all of my money into my farm... have 40 chickens ATM, only 4 of them are laying lol.. so that is alot of feed, with no return..... allwelll... Glad I already have a job at a farm.... I hope to get meat birds this summer, as well as a few turkeys maybe.... If only I could talk my dad into 3 or 4 cows XD

Get Meat Birds this summer!? Sounds like you already have 36 meat birds and 4 Layers.
