I'm excited for her. She's been a breath of fresh air here in Alaska after the last couple of Governors. To put it simply, she doesn't take any cr@$ from anyone. She had an enormous amount of cleaning up to due from the Murkowski administration when she took office. She's the most down to earth Gov we've had since I've been in the state. She got rid of the chef at the Governor's mansion, saying the family was capable of cooking their own meals and the kids knew how to make sandwiches if they got hungry. She drives herself rather than use a driver. She actually got into a fender bender in Anchorage earlier this year when someone rear ended her at a stop light while she was on her way to her office. It's common to see the family in the grocery store when they're home in Wasilla. Heck, I saw them myself not too long ago.
She is so not in the big oil's pocket. She fully supported the investigation into the politicians caught up in the ethics probes. Her "dismay" regarding Sen. Stevens was used in the context that the investigators found enough evidence to indict the man even though he swore up, down and sideways that he didn't do anything wrong and wasn't hiding anything and didn't receive "gifts" from VECO (big oil)
I don't know who I'm voting for yet, but I'm keeping a close eye on both candidates. I'm going to keep an open mind and see who I think will do the job.
I am just doomed
I am Pro Choice, Pro Gun Ownership(anti letting the criminals get them so easily) Pro Gay Marriage(and adoption) anti NAIS and ready to defend myself and my property against those that would feel free to take it.
I am all for womens right and such. But I dont think she has enough experience, or common sense to be VP of the USA. Hillary did. This woman does not. and I dont think McCains experience is enough to balance it out. If he should die in office I dont think she would have a clue what to do. Again.. Hillary would have. She is no Hillary- for better or worse
I am pro-gun, pro-life, and generally anti-environmentalist. These issues are the three biggest for me. There are some others that come into play, but these three are huge for me.
How can you be anti-environment? You like polluted air and water? Nixon created the EPA and Reagan signed the Superfund law.
You obviously only have two choices. Bob Barr or McCain. To me, the last 8 years of Bush have been some of the worst in history. The best thing for the Republican party would be to lose and lose big. They have zero fiscal credibility, went to war without a plan, and exploded the size of government. If I was you, I would vote for Barr. Yes, you will have to live with Obama for 4 or 8 years. But you will get much better Republicans in the future.
I think that the Sarah should have ran for president. She is great! I hope that Obama doesnt win. He is all for the welfare people, and giving handouts to the poor. The poor need to get up off their butts and get a job and work for their food and money. He wants to make us to volunteer and wants to force us to share. What I make is mine, and there is no reason why I should have to share it with a bunch of lazy people who think the gov't should pay for their living. And why should I volunteer because he wants me too. Forget about it! He calls it Universal Voluntary Public Service. What a stupid thing! I also bet ya if you asked him wether he was for or against NAIS, he would be for it.

You didn't read what I typed. I said anti-environmentalIST, not environment. I don't feel that activists should have the right to infringe on the legitimate rights of property owners. I don't feel that the environmentalIST lobbies should have so much power. I am not a tree hugger in other words. I do like clean air and water, but not when the extremists use it to punish honest hard working people.
If Barak Obama is elected, I can see things like the Second Ammendment being tossed out the window, especially by Supreme Court judges that he will appoint.
Like I said, you will not change my mind on the issues. You have to change my mind about the Democratic platform. In other words, change the platform because I'm not budging.
Edited to add that I can't disagree with you about the Republican Party over the last 8 years. Maybe the best thing is to lose big but I am terrified of Obama- that's just me.
and tryen to take all wildlife money for the general fund
that is what really ticked me off about Romney. To explain this, for those who may not know, the fishing and hunting permits are put back to conservation and land management. Romney decided it wasn't really needed there and it should go to the general, use however they want fund. Fortunately the PEOPLE of the state stood up against it and it got put back in the budget the way it should be. And yes, I had a stake in this because I fish.
anyway, as an independent, I will not vote for a McCain/Palin ticket & agree w/Pkeeler that the current Republican party is basically an embarassment. I have voted for the LP the last two Presidential elections. I will see how it comes out this year...
