It doesn't mention being medicated or not, however it was the only bag they carried for chicks.

I was told that they come from Privett Hatchery.

As far as buying frozen, vs. raising them yourself, are you sure of what they are feeding the prey?
Are you sure they are kept in clean cages?
taken care of correctly, not being fed dog food, or cat food?

Think of why many people, raise their own poultry and apply that reason to the feeders, tends to make things easier.

(Either way you choose, is cool just trying to give you encouragement as you seemed semi interested)

Up here in the north I keep the brooder at 95 for the first week, then turn it down 5 degrees a week until the chicks are fully feathered. Make sure that the chick can get away from the heat if it wants to. And welcome to the world of chickens and chicken math.

oh, quick off topic question, my cousin wants a boa, and I want pet mice, I figured we could go in on it together and I'd raise snake food for him (the offspring of my pets, not just a mouse farm deal) have you raised your own? Do you know how much time needs to pass before the mama could be rebreed? Again not a mouse farm/puppy mill type plan going on, just trying to save a little cash PM me if you want so we don't stray to far from your Original Post. Thanks! And good luck with the chicks!

A year later I went camping and the man there had a sick boa. Wouldn't eat, had the mouse (live) in the tank for like 2 weeks. I saved the little thing and named it Snake. Lived for 2 years LOL Isn't it funny how food can become pets?

Solid Snake? :-p haha I'm a geek (Metal Gear Solid)

I warn you if you start raising these your not gonna feel the same way about feeding them to your snake anymore. On the other hand if you can get past that and buy a incubator and a rooster you have your own self made food supply. Lots of people breed chicks for the purpose to feed there snakes. Whats the difference of us eatting them at 10 -20 weeks old anyhow any a snake eating them at a day or a few days old. I personally think its a great way to get rid of a excess of roosters in a hatch.

I might actually read a little more about that - I'm gonna have a bunch of quail pretty soon so it might be nice to raise some to the right size. Not sure how I'd euthanize them, though... Probably just break their necks.

This has nothing to do with your chick, sorry

I would think non-medicated feed would be harder to find, but if it's not medicated I wouldn't worry too much; some people feed organic/non-medicated exclusively. I use Purina Start and Grow for my chicks up to about 8 weeks then switch them to Purina Sunfresh Recipe, which is what all of my grown birds get. I use Purina feeds for my chickens and quail because I've heard food things about them and they're easy to get. I have also heard that Nutrena is a good brand, though I've never seen it at the Tractor Supply I go to.

Hey DKMfan I think I'm going to have to call you out of the chicken lovers closet as I see you have been a member of this forum for a year and a half - congrats on your sneaky way of getting those chickens you've been wanting!
